Car Painting
Hey guys. Got another question on painting the Camry. I'm not goingot do it myself, basically because I don't have the materials, the area, or really the know how of the whole process. So I am not even going to attempt it lol. So I've got a few questions...
-Seasonal wise, (winter, spring, summer, fall) when is the best time to take it somewhere to have it painted? (does it even matter?)
-How long does it usually take to paint?
-Cost? I was thinking metallic black, or metallic gold, the original color. I'm guessing over $1000?
-What are cheaper colors? Expensive colors?
Trying to get a feel for the whole process, because I am thinking of taking it to get it painted next year. Figure the body will last longer with a good fresh paint job. Thanks.

best season: there are different reducers for different temp's so it really doesn't matter. as long as the paint is good and cured before it gets subjected to the elements.
how long does it take: depends on the shop, how busy they are, etc. and what work is required. you'll have to ask the body shop about that. usually for a repaint with minimal body work, it's about a week (5 business days).
cost: do to overhead and labor costs i would imagine it changes by region.
color cost: i know red is the most expensive (or at least it was back when i was taking classes and spraying cars). basic colors are pretty reasonable (excluding red). it's when you starting throwing in the metallic and pearls that it starts to get expensive. paint manufacture also plays a lot into color price.

Price reflects quality tho. Well, I think my best bet is to call some body/paint shops around here, tell them what color I'm looking for, and they should be able to get me an estimate. Also, I decided not to consider black as a color. Interior is beige. So original gold it is lol

Damn yo! I'm 40 miles shy of 198k. Still have to lookinto that front end noice. Clanking when going over bumps, and worse in the cold weather. Thought it was sway bay mounts, but they look good.

If your going to invest your money and the trouble to repaint your car. Then you'll likely spend a couple grand to get it done right. You didn't state the age so realize that new paint doesn't go well with old molding grills and wheels

Back in my day it seems we were all into repainting a car even though we were advised not to waste our money on them. That may or may not be the case anymore I don't know.
