RE: Home built CNC Routing Table
Since I posted all those other helpful links in this thread will post this one too. I purchased a DXF/Vecter Art CD from here:
http://www.dewittindustries.com/
http://www.signtorch.com/showbundle.htm?s=signtorch
It's great for sign making type clip art. Great work - everything is 2D which is great for metal cutting or wood carving on a machine on the one like mine.
Thanks -
SS

Looks good.
What are you going to alter/make on the Bolink car?

Not 100% sure. But so far figure could do something like - Chassis (Upper/Lower) // Motor pate & Axle mounts and not sure what else.
I have never raced one but always loved pan cars. Found a place in MD that races drag cars. Do not know the details of the where and when though. Have to call later this week. But GPA Hobbies has a guy that works there that runs them. I have a GMS-14 Electric funny car that I would love to redo something for it as well.
Figure long as it is either 2D or 2.5D I can make it with the machine in it's current state. :ater hopefully can add a 4th and 5th axis to allow me to make full 3D parts.
Good stuff...

As for electronics - I purchase some of the motors from here:
http://stores.ebay.com/HUBBARD-CNC-INC
And you can get a good price on a controller either from there or from here:
http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZcnczone
The aluminum framing can be had from here:
http://stores.ebay.com/8020-Inc-Garage-Sale
Thanks for the compliments. This is just a hobby for myself. I am not a machinist either.

Yes i'm thinking about it...but bear in mind making one part on a machine of this size is one thing but to produce many i'll need a larger machine plus you can't really charge that much as this is just a hobby and....well suffice to say i'm thinking about it.Thanks

Here are some updated pic's. I reduced the cutting area. Instead of 6 ft by 4 ft, it is now right over 4 ft by 3 ft cutting area. The machine is much more sturdier and the accuracy is a lot better too.

RE: Home built CNC Routing Table
Haven't posted any updates for a while. I moved and just rebuilt my machine. Now all I have to do is level the work area with the cutter and it is back up and running. Attached is an updated pic. Will have more updates once the cutting area is leveled with the router.

Not saying it can't, just wanted to know if it could. I think it would be great if it does because he won't really ever have to buy R/C parts again.

If I use different bits I can do metal. But for now just messing with wood and stuff.
For RC stuff - I will be making some carbon fiber 1/10 scale pan cars. But that will come much later.

I'm not sure if that would be rigid enough for metal. Aluminum maybe with a really low feed rate but you can only go so low before you start galling. It would be sick for Lexan and other plastics.

It will do metal just fine. Most time for metal, I have a smaller 3 axis CNC mill that I use.
