pretty sure. unless they've changed styles sometime in the last 13 years. i think they were around in the early 90's during the grunge era. but i don't think they hit big until after the grunge era died (literally) but the effects of the "Seattle sound" had changed a generation andthe sound of alternative rock. pregrunge, alternative rock wasstuff like the cure. postgrunge, it wasmore like stone temple pilots, pearl jam, and most of what iv been listening to for the past 18 years. they fit that category pretty well.
pop rock is more likeHanson.and i can't reallythink of anymore because i don't listen to that type of music.uhhh... Maroon 5 maybe? Sheryl Crow? i would probably classify some of the pink iv herd as pop rock

Both cool song's. I been listening to Queen and Styx for a very, very long time and it's been a great ride.

Can't say the same for todays music.

What are you talking about? What, are you one of those if it ain't metal it ain't sh..?

Tell me again......How many have sold out Madison Square Garden, and most other huge venues in one minute or less?

I don't know about you, but someone who can produce two albums, which have both sold millions of copies, with all songs written by the artist, sell over 560,000 albums in one week, and run a world wide headliner tour before she's 25 is pretty impressive. Not to mention winning awards all over the place. A bunch of kids with cell phones alone will not make that happen, it took just as many adults with cell phones. But hey, welcome to how things work in America.

iv never herd that until now. and i gotta tell ya, i find it stupid. where i come from pop is a genre of music. stuff like Katy Perry, Kylie Minogue, Michael Jackson.
if pop is simply popular music that means slipknot, static x, and system of a downwere pop music in the late 90's. could have sworn those were metal bands (exactly what type of metal is for the masses to argue about.preferably somewhere'selse)

Static X and Slipknot were never "popular" according to the billboard charts. They were popular within a certain sect of music fans, not with the music industry in general.

Yea I'll be honest I think I've heard probably 4 songs in the past 3 years I thought were decent.
2 were covers of old songs that were tastefully done, couldn't tell you who did em though seeing I heard the on the radio but they didn't catch who the artist was.
I got a very broad taste in music all the Metals, Classical, Light, pop, eurobeat, grunge, Techno, etc... basically anything but country or rap I cant stand those 2

You said a mouthful there.

I'm not really into metal, but more into Rok N' Roll, Jazz, Blues. Well, I guess you could call it REAL music.

I also like country, kinna like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o22eIJDtKho

Damn that video is great. I love old music videos with the cheesy special effects

But yes 80's rock has a certain draw, its actually some of my favorite actually .
Usually great guitar riffs, great vocals, and weird ass lyrics
