Well, here's something for you. My parents paid $3.92 for Super grade gas. You see, the gas station actually ran out of regular, lol. They were giving people super for the price of regular.

Update on my location: 87octane gasoline cost $4 USD now, down about 5cents form last week. I doubt the pice fo this grade of gas will ever drop below $4 ever again.

Worse, the price of nitro fuel is up way high for us now, ~$30 per gal for 20% nitro. Though nitro fuel is more affected by the nito shortage, it too has hit me had in the wallet. I no longer run every evening like I used to, just on the weekends now.

Ours is dropping like a rock finally. One station is down to $3.659 with most up to about 10 cents higher.
I was just at a station about an hour ago. One woman came in saying "I just filled up for under $70.00, yay!"

Another though, slightly off topic, but still in the line of gas costs: Why dont the gas companies drop the stipid 0.9 (9/10) off teh end of the price of gas? its moronic now since that gimick was used to make gas look cheaper when it was $1 USD (Actually, the signs would say $0.99 9/10, but we all kno you might as well round that up to ione dollar.)

Since gas is usually over $4 in many places, that 9/10 fraction is pretty much useless, it does not impact the human psychology to trick people to thinking gas is cheaper. Afterall, $4.04 9/10 does not look any cheaper than $4.05. Worse, if you buy ten gallons where that 9/10 actually rounds to where you actually save a whole unit of money, you only save ONE CENT!

Jim, it's not only for gas but just about anything that you buy. Why isn't some that could be priced at $1,699.99 look better than one cent more at $1,700.00? This marketing ploy has been used for decades. Does gas sound cheaper at $4.25 a gallon or $4.249? It's because people are saying $4.249 but just $4.24.

Because it allows the 1 cent coin to continue to be made, ive forgotton why but everytime a 1 cent coin is produced the government gets a tiny amount of profit from it.

Actually, the US Mint loses money on the one cent coin as it costs more to make it than what its face value is. People have taken their pennies to scrapyards as they get get more for it as scrap.

I saw on the discovery channel that they wanted to remove the 1 cent as it was just inconvient but then they kept it because of the small profit they made.

It's a real surprise here in Michigan for the prices to be dropping and more shocking that right here in the `Zoo we have the lowest prices in the state! They'll be slapping us hard with Labor Day weekend coming up.

Ron! How ya doin?

Prices are down a bit here too. The news this morning stated the average has dropped 12 cents, and we're at $4.33 locally.

Hey, ya know, slowly regaining my sanity!
Getting a lot of work done around here now, the Honey-do list and getting my boats on the water. I'm still spending too much time surfing this site though. I'm kind of glad that I'm going gas now as the nitro prices are shooting through the roof also. The Drag racers are complaining, not only us R/C'ers as they're expecting it to go up to $1,900.00 a 45 gallon barrel by the Indy Nationals Labor Day weekend. And we're griping about gas prices!
