Default Offical Vista thread

I wanted to start a thread to talk about vista. What are some things you love and some you hate? I hope maybe by people saying things they do not like someone might be able to say if you do this that problem will go away.

I will start by saying i love the sidebar! I got this ebay thing that lets you see the items you are watching and bidding on right there in the window! And if you want you can even bid from it. Also the photo slideshow. I find myself seeing pictures i have not seen in years and its a good way to randomly relive a memory. Also i belive they did really good with the new start bar. Being able to search for a item in it rather then trying to find it dose come in handy when you get a lot of programs installed.

I dont like how they redid the desktop settings menus. Its like they tried to fix something that was not broken by oversimplifing it. Also i hate how they took away my documents and i even just created a folder named that on the desktop for old times sake and moved the movie, pic, and music file to that folder.[&:]

Side not here: Do not talk about Mac's or OS X. This is not the thread for it and the mods will delete it. If you want to talk about mac's or even windows vs OS X make a thread for it and dont waste the mods time trying to clean up this one.

I just install Vista home basic on my Mac Mini using bootcamp. Gotta say there are A LOT of similar things between vista and OS X.. I do love OS X and will take it over vista ANYDAY, but for the moment vista is doing OK at best. Remember this is a mac mini... 1.83 ghz intel core 2 duo and 1gb of ram..

2DMax - what do you mean by "open source" hardware? I was under the impression that open source was commonly used to describe software. Open source software has the source code readily available to anyone so it's free (hence, open source).

Not sure how that terminology relates to hardware though.

I think you just mean "built it yourself" hardware, rather than pre-assembled/packaged complete computers like from HP, Gateway, etc. I'm with ya on that. I enjoy customizing/building them myself too.

I was just making a reference to the proprietary nature of the hardware used by Apple at times, especially in the past.

I built my computer with parts I ordered from NewEgg.com for around ~$1600 including the OS. I already had my monitors and input devices.
