Default Teen Drivers Please Read

Just thought I would try and help get the word out there. It can happen and does happen.

My graduating class in high school lost quite a few people to teenage driving accidents. It's serious stuff and far too few people take proper precautions. New drivers just get defensive if you tell them to be extra careful.

This happens all the time where I live. Someone like a month ago was driving to fast and fliped his truck off the mountian. A couple of months ago a girl was driving and went strait of a 1000 foot cliff. It took the police three days to find the car. This kind of stuff is preventable just keep your eyes open and obey the laws they are there for a reason.

I've seen some pretty bad things out on the road myself. About 2 years ago my buddies and I were driving around and this street racer darted past us at about 120 in an EG civic hatch and hit a nissan xterra. the car folded like paper about 5 carlengths ahead of us. the image of them towing the car away on a flatbed with the roof ripped open like a tin can kinda stuck with me... all 3 people in that car died.

I am 18 years old and dont speed, a few kids have died in my school and its just not worth it. Plus in Massachusetts if you get a speeding ticket under 18 you lose your license for 90 days and have to pay about 800 dollars to get it back, its just not worth it.

I have my permit, and my Dad sleeps while I drive, I go as fast as I want, but only speed on roads that I am familiar with, and when the weather is nice.
But come on, who has the time to do the speed limit?

You will have plenty of time when you kill someone or are in a wheel chair or dead.

Two of my brothers friends were just in a car accident last weekend. They hit a tree and both of them were sent to the hospital. One of them only broke their arm and the other one is in a coma

I had an old police car when I was a teenager. Fun times. Bad idea. How I made it out alive is beyond me. Those old speedometers all pegged at 85 MPH, but the fact that I made it from home to the lakeshore in about 15 minutes suggests a sustained speed of around 140MPH. [X(]

Yeah, stupid stupid. I didn't always drive like that, but looking back I should have been dead or worse. Be careful out there, kids.

I used to go street racing every weekend, I'm glad nothing bad every happened. Now that I'm a parent, I don't want my son to have the 400hp car that I had. Problem is, even a honda can hit 100mph.

ThunderbirdJunkie's 86 Civic WagoVan 4wd could not hit 100 mph if it was drafting a semi and being pushed by a Ram SRT10

That being said
it was probably THE MOST dangerous car ThunderbirdJunkie has ever owned

I drive safe, have never been in an accident, and "speed" only when I need to or the road is completely clear. I honestly think I drive well, far far better than friends of mine and I'm 17. And I do watch out for other cars, since I'm not the only one on the road.
I also want a Lexus SC300 but again, I drive safe and am not really into street racing and other bologna.

Annie, your post just cements in ThunderbirdJunkie's mind that the driving age in the US should be 21.

88% of American college students think they are above average drivers. Its called the Lake Wobegon effect. I don't know you so I'm not going to judge, but chances are your not as good a driver as you think you are You do sound like a mature driver.

I know. Everyone says that they are good drivers, but I've seen some horrible drivers my age, and 3 times my age. But my friends like to drive "fun" or something but I don't, unless I peel out leaving work or something minute like that. Never on the street.

You don't realize how bad drivers really are until you start riding a motorcycle. I almost got run over 3 times my first week of having my endorsement.

You should find out the first day. That's how it is in Louisiana. But our state is so backwards.
