Nice, what kind of rims and tires did you get??
Just stockers and I forget the brand. But the stock rims look pretty damn good anyway.

So you have 2 sets of stock rims? Or you mount the snow tires on the stock rims and swap out the summer tires?

I thought I would share another one of my "criminally insane scientist" ideas with you today...

RC Turbo Boost

I haven't figured out all the details or if it can even be done, but here is the idea in a Homer Simpson Brain-Shaped Nutshell: Make a DC to DC Boost Converter that is controlled by an unused channel of the radio

Just imagine a 2s LiPo VW Bettle going at full throttle and along comes someone else next to you at about 3/4 throttle. They see that you are at full throttle and want to make it look like they are passing you on the highway so they start to speed up. You move your thumb over just a bit to the 3rd channel button and all of a sudden you have gone from 2s to 3s, 4s, even up to 5s LiPo speeds leaving them far behind [X(]

The only down side would be that it would have to act like NOS - burst of power for short period of time.

Didn't LB do something like this with NiMh, having an extra cell hanging in there he could go all NAWS on if he flipped a switch? Fun idea!

Took apart (in chunks) the Stadium Thunder the other day, gave it a simple green bath, and put it back together last night. All clean now!

1 down, 3 to go. [:@]

Nope.. mine is on at all time... just an easy way to add voltage to the battery pack.. add 1 cell or 2 cell, etc. You just connect the extra cells in series..

Yes, I'm gonna make you find out the hard way. Yes, I'm brave.

They call me LB. Got a last name too, but I can't pronounce it.

That's an interesting idea.. would probably work on a nitro engine? Use a BL motor to drive a supercharger setup.. ?!

For electric car, I don't see how you can do it.. I mean, I am not sure how do you get the extra voltage.. other than strap on more batteries.. in that case.. you can just hook it up at the beginning and run it 4S / 5S to begin with.. and when you want to drive slow, just drive it part throttle...

Let us know what you come up with, though.. !!

[link=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boost_converter]Boost Converter[/link]

Normally boost converters are used when there is constant power (think wall outlet or running car) and what that will do is take the starting DC voltage (12v for simplicity) and then raise it x amount - say 24v.

If you ever see one of those laptop charging things that plug into the cigarette lighter, same exact thing...

Google search broght me to this: [link=http://projects.dimension-x.net/archives/79]TPS61040 Constant Current Driver[/link] [X(]

[link=http://www.imgburn.com/]ImgBurn[/link] - used to turn CD / DVD into an *.ISO file.

[link=http://www.daemon-tools.cc/eng/home]Daemon-Tools[/link] - used to emulate a CD / DVD Drive.
That might be pretty useful, thanks for the links! [8D]

Better be careful..Some ESc's only handle 6-7 cells.
A 10 cell Nimh pack would be hard to make, especially to get it to fit the car right.
Most 7 cell packs you see these days have the extra cell on top of the pack to fit it in a chassis.

Yeah, but when you up the voltage, from the same battery, you'd lower the current draw.. so it doesn't really work.. (there's no free lunch.. no free energy there..) Meaning that if your battery can support that voltage and current, then you can run a hotter motor to get the same performance w/ lower voltage.. But without the loss in efficiency during the conversion..

The boost would be just that - a boost. Think NOS It wouldn't be a replacement for putting in a bigger battery.

It is just one of those randon thoughts that goes through my mind when reading or doing something electronics related.

Many have failed without trying. I want to fail after trying [X(]

Yeah, I hear you... Keep us posted!

My point was simply that if you can convert the voltage to be higher and get more performance out of that battery, you are simply not running a hot enough motor... Any sort of conversion will only result in loss due to efficiency..

But, would be cool, if you can change the voltage on the fly and upmthe performance of a slower motor...
