Yeah, R6 Vegas and it's sequel are good. As are the 2 Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter games.

I still have these games (for PC of course) and still play them! If it were not for those games, I would have never even considered playin any of the Halos, Gears of War, etc.

It's third person, but really over the shoulder and the aiming still handles pretty close to 1st person. If you like FPS tactical shooters you'll like Advanced Warfighter and Advanced Warfighter 2.
The main complaint I hear about those 2 is that their level of tactical complexity can get a bit high when it comes to managing battlefield assets - there are parts of it that feel more like a strategy game controlled like a third person shooter, so in some of the harder battles your teammates, air support, and ground support become somewhat cumbersome to handle while you're trying to handle your own character as well.
Overall they're great games though, those gripes are minor but worth mentioning.
