If you can find the (discontinued) Pro version, it is cheaper than the Elite, and the only difference is the color of the casing and the size of the HDD. 20GB vs 120GB IIRC. Most of my gamer friends recommend the 360 Pro, since 20GB is plenty of storage space to start out with, and it comes with the high definition cables, wireless controllers, and HDMI slot that the basic version lacks. The basic version also does not come with a harddrive, only 512MB of internal memory.

the pro was a 60 gig and the one before that was a 20 gig.

The arcade lacks ANY internal memory, the 512MB is the 512MB Memory card included. Personally, I would recommend the Elite, as your son probably thinks its cool, plus it includes a bigger HD.

I think they are on their 3rd generation of chips auto. So the failure rate is quite low now with the latest chips ( Called Jasper ).

i must have the 360 pro edition its 60gig i have bought it brand new and still havnt used it much , so tell me does the pro have the elite internalls ? cos i double checked this on youtube cos i opened up mine to have a look and its internalls look exactly the same as the elite
