Who do you think is the best martial artist of all time.
So I was watching Forbidden Kingdom the other day with Jet Li and Jackie Chan and some of the fighting scenes had me impressed. So it got me thinking who was best martial artist of all time. For me it was a toss up between Bruce Lee or Jet Li. In the end though after doing some research I think Jet Li is the best.
What's your take on it.

Bruce Lee, without a doubt, no question about it.
If you look at the Martial Arts in the truest form, no one ever came close to Bruce as far as his dedication, physical training regiments, and his deep rooted philosophy.
Jeet Koon Do, which is the art he developed, involves physical as well as mental development. He combined the best of all types of hand-to-hand combat and developed a style all his own.
Bodybuilders still employ some of his training techniques, movie makers still utilize his choreography techniques, and actors still benefit from the strides he made in equality in salaries and treatment.
There will never be another like him.
I do have to admit though, I do like watching Jet Li movies too.

Dont get me wrong. It was a hard one for me. I'm fully aware that Bruce Lee created his own style and the guy was lightning fast. Jet Li is also a true artist. He has been training in Kung Fu since he was 3 years old. He won the Chinese national champion at age 13. There is an incredible video of it on the tube. If I find it again I will post it.

Bruce lee for sure, sadly his life was taken away too soon.
however, today, jet li and jackie chan are both good, i would say jackie chan is better at coriographery and stunts, and jet li is better at traditional martial arts.
Chuck Norris doenst need a watch, HE says what time it is.

It's kind of hard to tell, since the movies' fight scenes are all choreographed.
Jet Li and Bruce Li are certainly the quickest.
Jet Li started doing martial arts forms in tournaments. Search for 'jet li tournament' on youtube, and you can see him winning the China National tournament in 1978. Good form, but we still can't tell how well he can fight.
Bruce Lee developed Jeet Kun Do as a practical fighting martial art. He was quicker than hell, and in top shape. Makes Jet Li look quite flabby by comparison.
Chuck Norris was a kickboxer. I wouldn't want to tangle with him, but Bruce would have him for breakfast, kind of like in Return of the Dragon when they fought in the colusseum. (but again, that was choreographed)
Jackie Chan used to be quite the martial artist, I've read, but he turned into more of a stuntman & Hollywood type. (Jet Li is going that way too, following the money) Mel Gibson said that when they were going the fight scenes for Lethal Weapon 4, they had to ask him to slow down, so they could make it appear like the could actually hit him. Pulling the slide off a Beretta 92F takes a lot more than that though...

Out of the poll selections, I would have to vote for Jackie Chan.
There is one person that I would have picked over all of those, Tony Jaa

Bruce Lee without a doubt. The only thing that can beat size and power is SPEED. He had so much speed his brain exploded.
