RE: New LCD tv...what to buy ?
i got the lg i used to love it till my kid threw the wii remote at it (oooooooh crap!!!)ya its broken
if i were to get another first off they make a screen protector thats made of thick plexi glass .
that would be the second purchase (screen protector)as far as brands .i looked around did all
the research i could and i came up with brands like lg ,samsung, sony ,panasonic are definately
better than the brands lik vizio, westinghouse, element, among others .now,as far as what to get,
i found that the 37 lg is waaaay better than the 40 lg, so ,you just have to go do some window
shopping to see which one works better for where you want it,and your budget.i found that some had
a way better picture than some others you just gotta look at some see what you want.
if you want to run a blue ray player off it you want high p or i rating.I.E...1080i,1080p
if your just going to watch regular tv you can get away with lower definition like 720p
hope that helps

Go to walmart and buy one from there. 19" lcd's are pretty much the same. For what your looking for any 19" from walmart will work just fine.

It happens here in RCU from time to time. Your budget is $200, and in no time everyone is spending $2000 of your money.

In fact, I attribute 80% of my Tamiya purchases to you.

RE: New LCD tv...what to buy ?
i would get a plasma samsung- although plasma is more hungry on power, and dimmer in light rooms- the electronics are known to last longer than LCD, also, plasma screens allow the user to view the screen in more angles, LCD can only be viewed in a small angle because it will start to shift shades on you or appear dim (look at a lap top). Plasma is also cheaper than LCD and is smoother.
however this technology is now out-dated, a DLP projection screen will produce deeper blacks and more vibrant colors, take up less energy, and if bought with LED- have a long service life. however, DLP's do often have bulbs with a life of 2-4years and moving parts (color wheel) that can break. however, they are more serviceable and cheaper than flat panels.
i just got a 100% working 56" sony set that has been working for 10 years for free. i use it for two weeks and it blows a resistor[:@]

RE: New LCD tv...what to buy ?
I just got a 42" Panasonic Plasma for $400. Heehee. A guy bought it, opened the box, took out the manual, put it back, closed the box and then took the TV back to the store. He decided he wanted a bigger one. Didn't even take it out of the box. Brandsmart even gave us the 2 year warranty with it. Went to Walmart to get a new entertainment center and saw the exact same TV for $588. Made my day.
If you're just going with a 19", why don't you just get a computer monitor? Assuming you have the ability to hook up the HDMI or DVI cable...
