The airport probably has parallel runways. During (VFR) visual flight rules, the seperation rules are pretty low for parallel runways. On a busy day at a general aviation airport with parallel runways, it's not uncommon to fly final approach side by side with another airplane.

Just a dumb plane guy here ,but to me rear plane looks substantially larger than the front one, probably meaning that these planes are separated by several thousand feet in elevation. I would say the smallest is at the lowest altitude making an approach and the other is just making a fly over to set up an approach or simply headed to a completely different destination.

The second photo is shown at an "eye level" of 1.15km which, w/o checking the conversion exactly, is about 1 mile or 5280 feet. The difference in plane size does not seem to me to be enough to be several thousand feet apart vertically at that height.
However, if you look closely the planes do apear to be on final at slightly different angle. To me, this lends creedence to the parallel runway theory.
Of course, as I said, I'm an idiot about aviation stuff but this question has me fascinated.
I honestly believe there is a good explanation for the photo and I cannot believe that the answer is google somehow combining 2 photos.

The airport has a single runway and if you project a straight line from the runway center line both planes are clearly lining up on the same runway.

pictures of that level are made by aircraft, not satellite. In the original post's picture, the two planes are the same plane pictured at different times by the camera plane traveling in the same direction.

That is a very good observation Nik. Explains it quite nicely. Thanks
