Because of my Mexican heritage I can honestly admit that I like cow tongue; the weirdest thing I have ever eaten is tripe soup (menudo) a Mexican dish that I do not like and brains I am not sure what animal they were from but the taste, smell ,and texture brought me to convulsions.

Well let's see. In the Phillipines I had "Monkey on a stick" it was quite good. cooked over an open fire. IE barbeque
I bought a bottle of Mexican tequila many years ago. We drank the booze and I got the worm. Sick for two days after that.

ah, now i remember. i drank a carnations instant breakfast that i got at a food pantry(super broke) noticed that it had a mail in offer for Hercules coming to theaters... it was a 1996 packet and i drank it in 2009. so in short
i drank a 13year old chocolate mix, it tasted like minerals and sawdust.

lol Shark!
i have a pretty ordinary diet. however, i've eaten a lot of expired food though, much to the dismay of my roommate. if something expires on the 10th, he throws it out on the 9th, maybe even the 5th, just to be safe. i might eat it on the 20th, 30th, or even the 10th - of the following month.
i teased him about it, and he claims his mom fed him expired food growing up, and he got sick. whatever, i just think she was a bad cook. [&:]
i'm not advocating eating rotten food, but if it smells okay, looks okay, and tastes okay... well you're not likely to get sick, provided it's been refrigerated the entire time, and/or cooked well enough. i won't eat something that's been sitting in a hot car all day, but there's milk in my fridge that says "best by 7/20" and i drank some early this morning (of 7/28) and i'm still alive.
i do draw the line though, i found something at the back of the fridge that had turned brown, and i'm pretty sure it wasn't that color when i bought it. [X(] threw that out right away.
oldest thing i ever ate was, like Shark, from 1996. don't remember what it was, think it may have been cereal, and it had something on the back for the summer olympics - of 1996. i think it was in or around 06 which was of course a WINTER olympic year, so i was a little confused to say the least. it did explain the almost nonexistent flavor, though.
other than biting through beer cans like a vampire, expired food is about as weird as i get.

RE: What's the WEIRDEST thing you ever ate??
We have a winner!!! Dude...really too much info there bro...[:'(]
Anomie...Uni I've tried and will be passing on that every time as well. That one is deff an acquired taste.
Menudo and Tripas Tacos...that I can easilly pass on as well. Didn't enjoy those taste sensations at all.
Tongue, had it served Goan style, It wasn't bad, quite spicy though, but didn't care for the flavor of the meat.
I've done the grubs, crickets, ants, worms, beetles, century eggs, goat brain salad, rocky mountain oysters, shark *****, whale blubber, seal blubber, eye ball from a pit roasted goat, camel meat, game sausages, still beating heart from a cobra snake, Fugu, dog, guinea pig, rat, mouse, squirrel, gator, kangaroo....there's more that i'll post later when I remember them.
Never tried the turtle yet, but have heard that it's quite good.

RE: What's the WEIRDEST thing you ever ate??
Bon Appetit!
Years ago I was stationed in Okinawa and we use to frequent a local establishment called "Charlies Tacos". They were great and there were pictures on the walls of people who had eaten massive quantities of Charlie's small, tasty tacos. The day before I rotated back to the CONUS he got closed down for using cat meat! Guess that explains why my wife's cats don't like me very much! MEEEEEEEEOW!!!

I have seen cat used in dishes as well as cat on menus, but never had the 'whisker' to try it...
Anybody old enough to remember the problems "Jack in the Box" had when it was discovered HORSE meat had been included in their beef used in their burgers and tacos?

I would like to try Anomie. [sm=wink_smile.gif] That sounds like a good dish. Yum.
Probably the wierdest things I've eaten were Octopus rings at Oktoberfest. They were surprisingly not bad.
