After 28 years with my last company, on invitation I took my severance package with enough age to qualify for full Social Security and a decent pension, so now I spend a fair amount of time flyiing and trying to get my 5 year old granddaughter interested in model airplanes. She's starting to do pretty well with HLG.

Licensed General Contractor, specializing in steel erection, for 30+ years. Injured my back, and after several back surgeries, I have been put out to pasture. If I were a horse, they'd shoot me[X(]. Now I'm on a fixed income, taking daily pain meds, and going completely crazy with all the free time I have...

I am a professional retiree. ( from full time employment)

retired 26 years law enforcement. Retired Major.
retired 28 years military. USAF 4 yrs, US Navy Reserve 24 yrs. Retired Master Chief Petty Officer.

Before retirement I earned my commercial pilots certificate, flight instructor and instrument instructor certificate, owned 2 personal airplanes and learned to fly RC. I gave up on RC to pursue my general aviation interest.

After retirement i purchased my little farm. I learned cattle raising and now am into hay production. I learned to weld, fabricate buildings and am into home handyman and equipment repairs. I got my A&P mechanics certificate and kept up with my general aviation interest. I am now ready to give up on general aviation and move on. So, I am getting back into RC flying. I am scratch building my first plane and plan to have a runway on my property.

Retired yes. But always kept busy and learning.

Greetings RC friends. My name is Guitto and I am new here in the RC Universe - a very big place. Love this discussion thread. Appreciate the opportunity to get to know people from such diverse professional backgrounds. Being a semi-retired gambler, I'm about to embark upon a relatively time consuming gamble with a build project. After considering the many options, I have come to the conclusion that the safest bet on a rewarding project and an excellent flyer is the Sig Kadet Senior, craftsman kit. Still doing research in the thread "Kadet Brotherhood" so I haven't even started yet.....just in the planning stages of that venture - but appears to be a fairly safe bet. I'm also an author with my latest book well underway. It's entitled "Testicles and Ovaries - A Sexist View on Leadership". This isn't a gender bashing endeavor by any means....but let's be real here...there ARE differences. I recently spoke with an 89 year old lady in Spokane Washington who summed it up pretty accurately I'd say. She said "the difference in men and women supervisors is that men seem to care more that the job gets done. Women seem to care more about HOW the job gets done". Ummmm......interesting I thought. Has this been your experience? Would you rather work for a man, or a woman?

Hat Tip to you and yours,
Guitto

Back when I was taller and my hair had more color in it I was the Airborne and Special Operations Evaluator for the US Army, now I'm just a gray headed old retired guy.

I used to think my job was hard but since I retired my wife has shown me what hard is.
