motor with no name or size

does any one have an idea of what kind and size this old motor might be, i have tried looking on the net but couldn't find a pic of anything looking like it.....

there looks like a marking on the front (when looking straight onto the front of the engine with the cylinder upright) of the back plate. looks like a "0" and somemore but cant tell. maybe that may help. i really have no idea just trying to help out here

Looks like it might be a Tartan single cylinder, maybe, hard to see too well. They also had a more common twin that I always thought was a kind of unknown gem, twins being very smooth running compared to singles.
