My new ff Edge/saito 72 is flying great. But I have a question. In knife edge it does exhibit some mild pitch coupling, pulling to the canopy requiring a little down elevator. Is this normal for the plane? Or is there something I need to check?

Check your thrustline. How does it look? Perhaps you have a very slight upthrust? See if you can't pitch it down a degree or two.

I'll see. The bottom of the Saito CrankCase fit very nicely and tight into the engine opening and really didn't leave a lot of up and down room onthe thrustline. Visually it is dead on, but I need to borrow an incedence and thrust line guage to check accurately.

It is just a mild pull to canopy, not bad at all. But not purely neutral either.

I should also tell you that I am so happy with this bird. The coupling question is just a curiosity. I bought this bird to learn 3D and this is what it seems to really excel at. It's almost as happy in a hover as level flight.

Well I am glad your having fun with it, I know what your feeling for sure! Whenever your ready to move up to the Yak 65" let us know. Now that's a crazy flying plane.

All great suggestions Jim. There are several minor variances that can cause pitch coupling or unwanted flight characteristics. Thrust line is certainly the first thing I'd check and also the elevator position at neutral stick. Is the elevator neutral also? Could be an indication that either the engine thrust line is slightly off or the balance is off. Aileron position is also a good thing to check since if both are up or down they will act like flaps (positive or negative) and cause pitch coupling. Funflys with such a short moment arm don't take a lot of variance to cause these affects. Hope this gives you something to look for.
