Default servo's for 65" yak

Just trying to see what everbody is using for servo's in their 65" YAK for the elevator and rudder. I was going with High Tech 645's but they won't fit. I measured the depth on the fuse come's out 3/4" the 645 are at least 1".
Thanks Britt

The 65" Yak does use standard servos. The servos stick out the other side.

Are we talking about the ARF? Even thought its the same.

If they stick out thru the other side then I will have to cut out the balsa on the bottom of the base. Am I right?

I've got 635's on everything but the rudder. Rudder has a 6965. Throttle is standard.

Just cut the fuse and stick the servos thru. The wires will just go back up beside the servo and then feed them down the fuse, in the channel.

Thanks for the reply. I will just go ahead and cut all the way thru the fuse.
Thanks Britt

Britt ... do you have the kit or the ARF? The holes should be cut for hte servos already. Hold it up to the light.

I thought we already covered this thread but must be my mind. You must be new to profiles but YES the servos are supposed to stick through the other side. They will on all profiles until you get to the giant profiles and even then most will. Cut the sheeting out on both sides as the kit instructions and photos show. there are many pictures that show the typical installion.

Got to be careful using the term "standard" servos. The case size of most nowadays are standard size cases but the insides are vastly different. The 65 Yak requires servos around 70-90 in-oz torque minimum. 645s would be ideal. Always use a 6v pack as that's the cheapest way to get more speed and power from your servos.

I'm also using hitec 645's on my yak 65 arf. Well they are actually tower ts-70's but I believe hitec is the maker for them. They actually came in a package branded with the Hobbico name but again I believe they are made by Hitec. Anyway, you save $6 a servo buying the tower brand [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXANT5&P=ML]http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXANT5&P=ML[/link] . I've only had 30 minutes of flight so far but they seem to be all thats needed.

I have a hitec micro servo hs-85 for the throttle. The precut arf hole was too big for this micro servo so i glued some wood back into the precut hole for the servo.

I had a question about my throttle servo getting hit with a bunch of oil from my engine. Should I be worred about it or will it be ok? I also cut the wood away from the right rear of my yak so my servos fit. The backsides of my two servos in the rear get hit a little bit with oil but I'm mainly worried about the throttle servo.

If they are 645's on a 65" Yak you should be really happy. Put it on 6v and will be even more happy. As far as servo getting oil on it ... not to worry, they are pretty tightly sealed. But just do your best to point the muffler away from it. When you say oil "coming from engine" there should be very little so check your motor. Are you using a Saito?

STL is right, you should not have very much if any at all oil hitting the throttle servo as long as your muffler is not leaking. Is the muffler to engine flange loose or leaking?

So my JR 537's wouldn't cut it? I think they are only around 40oz.
