RE: Big Fusion
We have the first prototype almost built and plan to show it at Toledo. It's going to be close I'll be honest. On top of all my other duties I moved houses this past week! The good news though is now I have a huge new shop to play in.

I hope the move went well and I can't wait to see the progress on the Fusion. If we have to take it to Toledo without the covering finished maybe we can get Faye Stilley to cover it in one of the symposiums......

RE: Big Fusion
Probably no sooner than a couple months. We have not even flown the prototype. Normal process is fly the heck out of it, make any changes needed, fly some more, make final production decisions, then make some kits. FUN FUN FUN!!!

80" wingspan, roughly 80" length, weight of the prototype RTF is 11 lbs 1 oz. Engine requirements are OS 160, Saito 180, YS 140-160, Venom 30 cc gas engine....or equivalent sized engines. Maiden flights are planned for this weekend. I'll have reports as soon as we can.

Yes there will be ARFs. Matter of fact I'm strongly considering going straight to ARFs versus kits as I think this can be faster. Since I do all the kits I don't have unlimited time. I'm still trying to get the 65" Yak 55SP ready to go!

RE: Big Fusion
Ok, we flew the big beast today twice and she flew awesome. The day started off with calm wind but by noon when we got to the field the winds had started to pick up........who woulda thought![:@] Anyway we tried the typical pattern and IMAC manuevers out and she tracked perfectly straight and followed through with point and snap manuevers just fine. Flipping to high rates it was obvious the control surfaces had no problems "vectoring" the thrust where I wanted it to go. Matter of fact I found myself backing off the rudder stick on some manuevers! The new YS 160 engine was somewhat tempermental but she'll get better once broken in. I've got some video to edit but here's some pics from today. You can tell from the one shot of the Fusion hovering, the angle required to stay into the wind!

RE: Big Fusion
That is one great looking plane. Does it fly like the 90 but slower and with a big plane fell? Tune pipe on the 160?
I've built 3 of OMP's kits and one ARF, 2- 65 YAK's and 2- 90 size Fusion's as everyone knows they build easy and fly great.
That look's like a thin built up fuselage and not a slab?
I do have on suggestion, if you do the ARF please, please, use a good quality covering, we will pay the extra.

RE: Big Fusion
All OMP ARFs will have ultracoat from now on. The fuselage on the 80" Fusion is what I coined as a "hybrid" fuselage like my 92" Edge. It is sort of a cross between a profile and a fattie fuse. Just wide enough for the engine and exhaust but not as wide as a full fuse.
