Yak 54 Profile
I have a Yak 54 Profile with 80 inch wing span. Does anyone have a manual for this? If so could you email me a copy. It would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Thank you.

Hi Mdunevant, I think you are the gentlemen John spoke to at the recent flyin event in OH. The plane you have if I recall is not an OMP plane but a pirated version. Regardless I'm sure I can help you out. What specific questions do you have?

Do you have the manual for the OMP version? John said that I would be able to use it to help put this one together, and I was also wondering if John McNee's can still get me the muffler and header for the O.S. 1.60 FX Like he told me at the RC Hobby Center Customer appreciation fly in in Dayton? Thanks Mike, and welcome back...

If you go to the OMP webpage you can download the manual for the 80" Edge. That should help you fairly well. I'll alert John McNees to jump in here and answer your question with regards to the muffler.

Use the Sullivan heavy duty tail wheel assembly. Screws right to the bottom of the plane. Throw away the cheap spring they give you and use a solid piece of wire to connect to teh bottom of the rudder though.

Ok great, as for the wing halves, using 6/32 bolts, will they work loose while flying? I will have to be able to take it apart to haul it, so I can't use locktight. Instead of using blind nuts would it be better to use the nylon lock nuts? Thank you for all your help, very much appreciated.

6-32 bolts with blind nuts in the opposing wing tabs works great. They generally won't come loose when you tighten them due to the friction against the wood but I still check them occasionally during a day of flying.

Mike do you know if John McNees can get a header pipe and beer muffler for the OS 1.60 FX? He told me at the RC Hobby Center Customer Apprec. Fly in that he would sell me one for the original price of $35.00 header pipe and muffler. Haven't been able to speak with him.

I called and left a message on his home phone yesterday, and I have even tried his cell number he gave me with no luck. I hope you can get in touch with him, I need the header and muffler for the OS 1.60 I purchased from you. Thanks Mike...

His cell phone is busted and he has not replaced it yet. Seems this is the third one he's gotten from his provider and John is ready to give up and switch to another provider. Anyway I spoke with him yesterday and told him to follow up. He's been real busy with flying small UAVs again for us here at AFRL but he's back this week. I don't think John has the headers and we get those through OMP. I'll double check on that one too. We just get them from MACS.
