yak 55 elevator
can someone tell me if i have to cut the elevator in half to put the jointer in?the plans show it in but wht does it have a 1/4' leading edge all the way acrossed it

Your question doesn't make sense Rob. You don't cut the elevators in half. They are built as shown over the plans and joined with the supplied 1/8" wire joiner. There is no 1/4" leading edge all the way across. There is 1/4" balsa triangle stock glued to the leading edges of both which serves as your hinge stock.

the plans show a 3/4 sq balsa leading edge as well as the triangle stock the legnth of the elevator as well as the jointer wire,on pg7 you have posted pics of it the way i built it,so do i cut the 3/4 balsa then put in the jointer wire??

Rob, there is no 3/4" sq balsa on the leading edge of the elevators. The elevators are only 3/8 thick. The leading edge parts are laser cut and the hinge stock is 1/4" triangle stock. The plans are correct here. The picture in the manual was actually from a previous stick built version using a 3/8" sq balsa leading edge. Both were built together and then yes, cut apart before installing with the wire rod. I think you have the idea though.
