Default OS 91 for the 47 Edge 540 V3 ARF

I have an OS 91 four stroke that needs a home. Would this work for the 47 Edge 540 V3 ARF (calls for 63-82 four) or is it to much power?

If it is a good fit, what size prop would you recommend?

If this is not a good fit, (although I really like the 540) what other OMP would you recommend for my OS 91.

Thanks, John

It's not too much power. Too much weight.

Saito 82's are on sale from Horizon for $229 right now. That or an OS55AX would be top choice.

Looked like the .82 was out of stock when I checked last night. Well through horizon anyway.

I think Horizon was the only one selling them so cheap. They are liquidating for the Saito 82b soon to be released. I dont thing the Saito 91 weighs too much more than the 82, but it will definitely be more power than you need. But I think it could be done.

Need help guys. I've pretty well decided on a Edge 540 v3. I would like to use a magnum XL 70 4 stroke but it weighs 3 ounces more than the recomended engines. Would the extra weight be of any consequence? Any other reasons for using or for not using this engine? Tnx Vince

other than it being a tank compared to engines in the same range I dont see any other problem. what about a TT 75 FS?

Seeing as many folks use the Saito 72 and YS 63 I would think the XL 70 would be right in line as long as you have a good Magnum. Run decent nitro and you should be happy. 3 oz isn't too much more weight. Would definately not run a .91 though! Too heavy.

I'm going to mount my motor on my Edge 540 v3 and I want to know where the CG should be for best hovering. All answers appreciated.

Vince, regardless of the motor selection the CG would always be the same as specified in the manual. Manual says 4.5 – 5.0 inches behind the leading edge of the wing at the root.

I'm aware of that Mike, but thanks for the reply. I was hoping I would get some other replies about where their CGs ended up for best hovering.

Best hovering would be at the aft end of the range or 5 inches back. I like to set my profiles up so that the nose only barely drops when inverted at 1/2 to 3/4 throttle. I just barely touch the down elevator to hold level.

Thanks Mike, your advice came in time, as I haven't mounted the engine yet. I realize the components can be moved
too but I like to start out as close as I can. Thanks for monitoring this site. Vince

I'm running a saito 82 with a 14x4 wooden prop. I would like to try a non-wood prop. I cant find one that has a hole 7mm or smaller. Is there one?
If one exists please tell me where I can buy it. Brand and part number would really be appreciated. Tnx Vince

Not sure Vince but I would have thought most props have the same size hole for the smaller sizes. Usually you have to ream them a little for some engines.
