92" hybrid

Is this an ARF?
Will a DA 50 fit? If so, will it fit and balance out with out additional weight?
Sorry for all the dumb questions.

That's not a dumb question I have the same one.

Will it?

It is not an ARF at this time, only kit form. And absolutely a DA 50 will fit, that's what we are using here at OMP. This new airframe is specifically designed to use the incresingly popular 50 cc class bulkhead mounted engines such as the DA, 3W, Brison, ZDZ, etc. etc. The plane is designed to balance with no addtional weight. Since the fuselage is half profile and half conventional we call it a "hybrid" but the bottom line is it's built up so the inside is hollow and you can position the guts anywhere you need to.

Here is a video of it with DA 50. Plenty of power.

Does this plane have optional engineering/construction for shortening the fuse for transport?
Like a removable tail, or something. The cargo area in my van is limited to about 72".
Or is it time for me to upgrade to a Suburban or a trailer? [X(]

It's going to be a 1 piece fuse. You could always 2 piece robart hinges with straight wire for your rudder, that would knock off 8-10".

Love the rollercoaster video, Dion. Are you flying one of these in St. Louis yet?

Not yet. You know me Dave, I'm more like a lover then a builder. I'll be getting one soon enough though.

You want one?

Will you guys be flying one at Shelby Ohio next weekend. I will be there and I would really like to see this thing fly. I am thinking about getting one but would like to see it fly first.

Oh yea, we love Shelby and plan on being there for sure. The Hybrid will also be there.

The 92 hybrid is my "next" plane, but my hobby budget is gone right now as I destroyed my 35% cap and am replacing it now.

How would a G62 do in the this Hybrid Edge? Would the fuse stand up to the shaking? Thanks...

AFSalmon 06-30-2004 03:32 PM

RE: 92" hybrid

The G62 is not known for it's power to weight margin but I personally have no experience with that engine. The plane is designed for a gas engine so vibration should not be a problem unless your engine is really bad or the prop is not balanced.
