I could not resist, Mad Web!
I support you 100%., by the way.
Shoot them an email and they should forward the questionaire, if you want to fill it out. It's a long, long questionaire with questions about brick and mortar (expanding?), but for 15% it's worth it to help an AMERICAN company that employs AMERICANS.and makes planes that are cool to fly.

    RE: Horizon Wants YOUR Opinion?

Sakai, thank you for your kind remarks. With a wingman like yourself there is a synergistic effect that encourages far more modeling activity than were we to simply operate independently. Curiously, in an attempt to enjoy an "operational smiley," your "laughing smiley" was cut and pasted from your post to mine. It didn't work for me any better than the ones provided by RCU - a virus? I need a web system upgrade but it will have to wait until after the Hurricane - gotta put first things first, you know.

Will wonders never cease? All action smileys are now working (10:55 PST - 2/18/11).

The main reason my RCU R/C Dossier stops with the PZ Spitfire is because of the trouble I had trying to post on RCU at the time. I have tried to document most "anomalous web phenomena" on the threads, Facebook, WebRing, etc.. "My KILLER SPITFIRE thread was started simply because it was impossible to post on the big Spit thread at the time, for example.

Stay positive at all costs! "Aim High . . . Fly-Fight-Win!"

Thank YOU, oh Mad One (in a mad world the mad man is the only SANE man)!

Hey, onthe new PZ Mosquito the props are counter rotating and it has independent servos for the ailerons. So, I take it the receiver/escboard has a couple more hook-ups for this-AND FURTHER-adaptability. I think this is right in Dr. Wheelnut's wheelhouse for his Experimental Aircraft! Awesome!

Try as I may the above statments were impossible for me to post on my last post. I very quickly created this new post without the usual e-mail signature to get them posted, very fishy indeed!

    RE: Horizon Wants YOUR Opinion?

They do indeed work for me. Madweb, I fear that you may have become somewhat paranoid, this observation may be unwittingly akin to part of a Jason Bourne plot and unleash the worst kind of interest from above leading to shiny black cars parked beneath street lights outside your address that drive away when you approach them....but I doubt it! And anyway, this is a lowly RC website....for us to chat about planes and stuff.

On which subject, Sunday was a sad day for my wingman. After 188 flights with nairy a scratched cowling, his beloved H9 P51 is no more. Second flight of the day saw me changing lipos on the spit and subconsciously listening to the P51's spectacularly low passes and beautifully controlled rolls and wing overs when I was brought out of my revere by a shout of 'Oh no no no...... ' and looked up in time to see the aircraft banking hard to the right in a descending curve that led just over the curve of the field, bordered by fine old oak trees, and out of site. I did see a piece of bright yellow tailplane spiral upwards briefly into view and back down out of site, and then.......silence. Ed explained as we walked over the wet grass to the incident site: he was going around for a low pass prior to landing and had started the bank, tried to level out and then pull up but found that he had nothing...no control at all.
Well, sometime before we arrived at the impact all thoughts of it being salvageable evaporated as we spied black and white invasion stripes hanging from the lower branches of a tree, and as we drew closer it became apparent that the impact had happened at about 60mph. We found one of the lipos about 25 yards away, the other side of the tree, the motor and housing were also some fifteen feet further on with the spinner back plate bent double and jammed solid with English oak. It took some time to gather all the parts into a heap, none of which was more than about six inches square. I noticed (without saying) that small pieces of balsa were still spinning down from the tree like macabre seeds.

Hey ho, I guess it always ends that way. We have both just about finished our YT International spits and will not let this dampen morale!

    For King and Country.....

    RE: Horizon Wants YOUR Opinion?

Wingco, sorry about your wingman's disaster. Was the receiver battery in good enough shape to check if the voltage and charge was high enough to see if that was the cause? Being overly emotional it takes me weeks to get over totaling a fighter. Glad to see the discouraging effects in your wingman's case has not cost us yet another fighter pilot. We lose way to many promising pilots due to discouragement of one kind or another. It's great to see you back in the fight. Charges on the big Spit thread have been dropped as of your last secret communication. Keep up the good work!

You're right about paranoia, of course, but that doesn't necessarily mean that web "influences" are as pure as the driven snow. For example, the code
My RCU code "laughing and crying smileys" work intermittently. They often show up as boxes with a "?" inside them. That's why those other smileys are also being used. The "action smileys" seem to be working well today. Does anyone else see the "boxes with question marks" in them, at least occasionally in my "e-mail signatures? Yet another reward is in the offing.

Here is the killer though: "So, where is the problem? Something is very fishy here!"

If you click on the next post "edit" feature these last two statements appear in the "edit box" but they DO NOT APPEAR on the forum post, at least for me they don't. If anybody else sees what I see, then we surely have "them" surrounded as I tried but failed to post on Facebook yesterday. I blame that failure on the same "benevolent" (?) influences" that are primarily responsible for many of the other "anomalies enjoyed on the web."

    RE: Horizon Wants YOUR Opinion?

I'm touched and moved by your concern Fellow Flyers, many thanks.
Let me reassure you that Wingman and I have been at this for long enough to leapfrog these emotional inconveniences and get back to the business in hand. As Wingman has told me on (too) many occasions: crack on with the rebuild/next project, it helps with the grieving process!

Its all a far cry from about two years ago when we both first moved from Parkzone spits to Hangar 9 60 size and experienced the self induced sheer terror that started with taxiing out for take off, flying with one knee vibrating uncontrollably and subconsciously trying to help the more severe changes of direction by banking the radio in the same direction as your intention, and the honest relief when the wheels touched down again after a gentle pootle around the sky at half throttle and very high altitude. The last few months have been filled with high speed passes at about four feet, low inverted passes, wing tip turns (Wingman swears the spit wing tip actually touched the ground on one occasion, I suspect that it was only very close as connecting at that speed would have produced a long line of matchwood), and the general hooligan behaviour that one can get up to without any of the local flying club members around to stare at the ground, shake their heads and tut loudly after such events (one of the reasons we've politely declined their repeated invitations to join).
Wingman knew it was coming. I had experienced dozens of emergency landings because of jammed landing gear, sudden loss of engine power, esc shut downs due to overheating etc etc etc and become pretty adept at dropping flaps and gear (or raising half lowered gear for a belly landing) with seconds to spare and dealing with a partial rebuild but Wingman had avoided this, either by sheer engineering skills or luck, who knows? So when the Mustang disappeared over the brow of the hill, he turned to me with a grin and bowed. What he said would surely one day happen had come to pass, and lo, the prophesy was fulfilled! Such is the philosophical nature of the man.

He will be airborne again in about three weeks with the YT. Until then for me its solo flights unless he can't resist joining me at the 'strip, in which case I'm more than happy to hand my radio over.

    RE: Horizon Wants YOUR Opinion?

    WEB DIRTY TRICKS!

Garbled information on my posts that has not been straightened out yet needs some attention. It is contradictory to common sense and is dishonest for posted material to be changed from what is posted by a poster. Here we also have a "code" that displays a smiley on Sakai's post and a totally different symbol on my post. That AIN'T right!

    For example, the code
My RCU code "laughing and crying smileys" work intermittently. They often show up as boxes with a "?" inside them. That's why those other smileys are also being used on my e-mail signatures. The "action smileys" seemed to be working well on (2/21/11). Does anyone else see the "boxes with question marks" in them, at least occasionally in my "e-mail signatures on Park Flyers And Backyard Flyers forum?

Today, 2/22/11 the two boxes with question marks in them are back on my e-mail signature. Yet another reward is in the offing for anyone who can help expose the dishonesty going on here.

Here is one undeniable corruption: "So, where is the problem? Something is very fishy here!" These last two sentences are clearly left off my post # 8 by some kind of trickery. Here is the URL for my original posted information on post # 8, http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/post...356&toStyle=tm

Clicking on post #8 "edit" feature (subscribers can also click on the above URL) shows these last two statements appearing in the "edit box" but they DO NOT APPEAR on my forum post, at least for me they don't. If anybody else sees what I see, then we surely have "them" surrounded as I tried but failed to post on Facebook (2/19/11). I blame that failure on the same "benevolent" (?) influences" that are primarily responsible for many of the other "anomalies enjoyed on the web."

Please check out the image from the code taken from Sakai's ''laughing Smiley'' -
Why do I not get the same "laughing Smiley" that Sakai does using the same code on the same forum?

Could somebody(s) please check the codes to see if they will work for them the way they work (or not work) for me. Rewards are in the offing.

I tried several times to post the two statements (located in the above smiley code paragraph) on my post #8 but could never get them to appear on that post on the forum.

Please also notice the "quoted #8 post" on my post #11. That sentence on the quoted #8 post that starts with, "I tried several times . . . " does not belong there. Please compare post #8 with the quoted post #8 on my #11 post. Please see the clear corruptly added sentence that does not belong. This is yet another undeniable corruption of my original text information.

Left out information, added information, etc., clearly demonstrates pure unadulterated corruption of web operations that must be corrected!

A copy of this will be posted on my copy of an early version of my Facebook Profile Page before it was corrupted, evidently by hackers. My uncorrupted Facebook Profile is located on my HANDY WEB PAGE FINDER (no URL is needed), simply type the name into any good search engine (not Google).

    P.S.
HERE WE GO AGAIN! MORE TEXT CORRUPTION!

The next text belongs after the first Sakai code that shows as a laughing smiley on his post but shows up as that meaningless symbol on my posts.

produces a laughing smiley face for Sakai but on my system I get a square shape with small shapes inside. Here is Sakai's code with parenthesis that may need to be removed for testing purposes: (

P.P.S. This last sentence failed to appear on my original garbled post to Wingco.

    RE: Horizon Wants YOUR Opinion?

Okay, now you've done it! THIS MEANS WAR!

After the Hurricane that Mosquito is going to have to be decisively dealt with!
If it has the vertical capability to comfortably and convincingly lift straight up, my irresistible but neglected little PZ P-51 is going to have some really exciting company!

Unbalanced torque/gyroscopic precession forces are giving me fits with all of my powerful high strung thoroughbred fighter planes. It was a full scale P-38 Lightening that I read about performing those square and triangle maneuvers with victory rolls on the flat sides that I try but am having so much trouble with while flying my very scale like modern powerful fighter models.

In mild weather The PZ brushed motor Spit can be flown through these maneuvers fairly consistently with light LiPo batteries. The high pitch prop along with that big out of scale rudder seems to help minimize the nasty effects of P-factor/GP forces. Given the fact that the PZ Spitter flies so well, and except for the big vertical stab, looks so scale most every where else, I suspect it may be around awhile. Just in case it isn't I have stockpiled a generous number of Spitfire props that can be made to work so beautifully on the model of the recognized greatest fighter of all time.

Unlike the "Just Fly at any Altitude" War Weary GUNFIGHTER (earned its name from crashes/repairs), my PZ Wildcat that has actually flown very well at two mile plus altitudes with the Spitfire prop, the 51 has yet to actually prove itself at altitude. If my aircraft carrier can perform its assigned vital missions, given fuel uncertainties, the P-51 and P-47 will surely live up to my high altitude expectations. "That little whiff of danger" helps make anticipated future sorties even more exciting, especially now that there is a chance of failure while the whole world is watching!

Okay, enough of all this glory hogging already. The irresistible thing about the MOSSY, besides its history, is those counter-rotating props that should make my favorite maneuvers more practical.

To understand my "fetish" for square corner maneuvers please click: http://www.modelaircraft.org/members...7/00000070.jpg You see, I have a bit of an ax to grind with some of my Control-Line enthusiast acquaintances who have a problem with the truth about reality. So, by spoofing them occasionally I have hope that they will eventually come around and do the right thing in spite of their engrained traditions. Please check out: ''BLACKBALL BALL''
http://community-2.webtv.net/RICHARD...BLACKBALLBALL/ TRUTH DOES NOT IMPROVE WITH TIME - unlike some of us hotshot fighter pilots!
