Default E-flite Spitfire Mk XIV - THE GUARDIAN of GREAT Britain

Britain's best buzz bomb beating warplane is also arguably the most beautiful "form follows function" fighter plane in history. The brute power of the Griffon engine made this machine the most desirable for catching and destroying the infamous V-1 flying bombs and for use in short range dog fighting activity.

My model Mk XIV is so impressive that it is being enjoyed as a piece of art and will not be flown until after I show it off to my modeling buddies next week. Everything works perfectly including that impressive five blade prop that provides surprisingly high thrust for such a low diameter prop. I've ordered spare stock props for low altitude flying and might modify one of my spare spinners to enjoy superior high altitude performance with my nice looking larger diameter three blade props. ( having PC problems at the moment)

So, aim high, fly, fight, win!

Out.

(7/15/16) The Mk XIV flies beautifully with both the stock prop and my "just fly at any altitude 13X8 three blade de-pitched prop." It is the same prop that is now used on my Dallas Doll P-51 Mustang and is required for my vertical flying performance needs.

Please see the entry on the bottom of my first post for updated flight performance. (Unable to post my original reply.)

We may be making some progress here. A slightly modified 13 x 6 MASTER AIRSCREW three blade prop was modified by rounding the blade tips and sanding them to provide a little less pitch angle than in stock condition. It looks and performs very nicely on the Spit while flying in 91 degree 22 plus MPH wind at 2500 feet density altitude. The last sentences tell what happened earlier in the day on this post.

I just spent about five (5) hours composing fun things about my new Spitfire, failed to post. Picture would not post either.

PLEASE ENJOY THIS "UPDATED" COPY OF MY Mk XIV SPITFIRE REPORT

E-flite Spitfire Mk XIV - THE GUARDIAN of GREAT Britain

Tally-Ho, Spitfire Brotherhood,

Prekin and I both have a "last project" (?) Spitfire to talk about. In my case at least there may someday be yet another "last project Spitfire," especially if I move into a larger house that would have enough extra space for hanger use. My Eflite Mk XIV Spit is the greatest airplane "eye candy" I have ever owned. Although in pure stock form the Mk XIV looks really rakish with its stock 5 blade prop, final experiments have demonstrated that a slightly modified MASTER AIRSCREW 13 X 6 three blade prop with rounded tips looks and performs beautifully.

Final test flight was performed in 91 degrees F, 22 MPH plus wind at 2500 feet Density Altitude conditions and I couldn't be more happy with it.

Default Good hand launch belly landing park flying performance modifications.

This is a test - if it posts i will again attempt to post what I just tried to post here but it failed to post.

Okay, we may be on a roll this time.

MAYBE NOT YET

(days later - hacker(s) may have the day off from their suppression work ,)
It would be nice if this web site would allow me to post useful information about my new Spitfire. I will keep trying knowing that TRUTH will ultimately triumph.

The following information posted successfully.

Thank you Spitfire Brotherhood. Pictures and comments are appreciated more than you might think. My Mk XIV Spit has been successfully modified to not only continue to look great and land normally under good conditions but now can be safely hand launched and belly landed on areas where landing gear will not work well. It works as well in the promotion of modeling as my smaller "park flyer fighters" do in smaller park size areas.

The vulnerable scoops are protected with carbon fiber reinforced thin aluminum skids that don't detract from the appearance of those huge radiators under the wing. The front scoop is carbon fiber reinforced with "Velcro" pads to allow easy and effective hand launching missions. My Spit will be a perfect partner with my also modified "Blondie P-51" that provides great "ultimate WWII dog fighter plane" history/science modeling promoting teaching aids.

Please keep up the good work of keeping the Spitfire alive.

So, aim high, fly, fight, win!

Out.
