Flying into cloud
Hi
thought Id have a foray into cloud flying today. It has been showery
much of the day, during a dry period I flew with a 7 cell pack in
the Aerobird. At about 2/3 power I climed constantly doing wide
circles to maximise rate of climb. There was patches of low cloud I
estimate around 800-1000 feet. When the "bird was little more than a
dark dot against the grey sky and as I was flying under these
patches of low cloud it entered the cloud, almost dissapearing from
view. I circled round at cloudbase for a bit watching it appear
to "fade away" when it skimmed the cloud. With threatening weather
approaching I cut power and descended fairly fast, the elevator
control great for getting down fast if need be.
I still get this intermittent throttle problem between 1/2 and full power where the power seems intermittent, like a petrol motor low on fuel, or a loose connection. Going to full power usually sees constant power, so its not stopping me from flying. All connections are fine from what I can see. It also seems more pronounced with the 7 cell pack rather than the 6 cell.
