GWS DeHavilland Beaver
I had my GWS for one year and the engine doesn't spin as fast. When I try to hand launch, there is not much pull from the prop thrust....when I release the plane it heads for the ground.
It nose in twice in the year that I had it. The last time it nosed it on the road and drove the stick mount into the plane...broke the gear box and prop. I replaced the wood mount, gear box and prop.......when I try to fly with the same set up I had before it does not want to fly.
Can anyone help me with some suggestions as to what you might think is happening.

May be time for a new motor. Or, the motor may have been damaged. Make sure the prop is on with the writting facing forward. Check out the battery. Check alignment of wing and tail, warps in the wing, CG.
Hope you find the problem.

Also check that the motor wires are hooked up right (red to red and black to black). If they are reversed, the motor will run backwards and you will have no forward thrust.

On simple can motors the most common problem is the brushes, they simply wear out, it's time for a new motor and don't forget to break in the motor before you install it.

I agree with Enrique your brushes are worn out it's been a year. Buy a new motor they're 8 bucks at www.balsapr.com i think.
