Default GWS 5A ESC Problem. Help please

I cannot seem to get my ESC to activate. I am currently running it in a stock SS with a 7.2v 840mah pack.

Even when i first purchased it, it didnt want to work properly. it says to plug everything in, then move the throttle to full and back to idle - I should here a beep and it shoule begin working. It often took several times before it would activiate, and I would regularly have to reverse the throttle channel to get it to activate.

Now - it wont activate at all.

Could this be a TX problem? Could it have something to do with the throttle channel EPA or ATL? I just want to make sure it isnt my fault before i go buy a new one and have the same trouble. I was going to head to the LHS this afternoon, if anyone can respond before then - it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

GWS ESC does not beep or need you to move the throttle stick to arm it. It's never stated anywhere in the manual. up/down arming is for GP ESC, beeping is for Jeti, Kontronik, etc ESC.

You're using Futaba, you have to reverse the thorottle channel on your TX, it's a quirk with Futaba's.

Peter is correct on that one. No beep from a GWS ESC, try reversing your Throttle Channel.

i am mistaken - it is the 5A model from Great Planes. In the instructions it says move throttle to 100% then back to idle. I should then here a beep indicating the system is ready.

As stated, previous flights required me to reverse the throttle channel in order to get it to activate properly, however, now it will not function at all.

I have no problem just purchasing a new one if this one is damaged, but I dont want to do that and have that one not work either do to the problem being user error, you know?

Maybe it's because you need to lower your trim all the way to zero?
Dunno, but this works for me on the GWS esc. Try it on the GP?

You mean lower the digital throttle trim all the way to 0%? I think it is at 100% right now. You think this may be the problem?

Not sure, but this is GWS style. It wants it to be lowered all the way. That's on the Skysport 4's analogue trim.
Try and we shall know?

I tried - to no avail. Set the EPA to 100% and the digital trims to 100%. Nothing. Going to bring the fuse and TX to the LHS in a bit, and try out the new ESC before buying to make sure it isnt something I am doing wrong.

well - I went out and purchased the E-Flight 10A speed control. It works perfectly. No problems. Guess it was the ESC - maybe it wasnt powerful enough.
