Default Opinions on Formosa?

Hey, i'm thinking of getting a formosa to fly sport at my field which has little wind. I am thinking of buying this plane. What do you think of this plane?

I have quite some expierence with 1 3D plane, 2 trainers and 1 low wing trainer. I don't know... but I feel that I can fly this plane. So what do you think?

Also, can this plane do 3D with another motor set up? 3D is cool and I surely want to do it if it can!

Hi Csisfun,

I haven't flown mine yet.

There has been a lot of discussion on the Formosa on different threads here. You may want to do a search and review them. I think most of the points have already been covered.

My understanding it is more like a sport contest flying plane instead of a beginner's plane. As a sport plane I understand it is a very good flyer and "goes where you point it".

I noticed this morning the announcement of a new 20% larger Formosa (size 600).

Hope you enjoy the plane.

Best regards,

Wayne Miller

Where did you hear about the larger formosa? I got one pretty much stock but I changed to a Graupner 400 DD becuase I wanted extra power, and I think that a 20% increase could only make an already good plane a better one.

Hi Enrique1123,

I saw at the gws-fans.com site, it is at the bottom of the page right after the 4 engine passenger jet. I think it is a new kit.

Let me know if there isd a problem finding it.

Best regards,

Wayne

I have one. Its great stock and even better on brushless. Its not really a 3D plane, more of a pattern or sport plane. Just keep the throws down to start off with and you should be able to fly it fine. It lands like a dream.

Hi Loading,

Do you have the new 20% larger version shown at the bottom of the page at:
http://gws-fans.com/gwse/index.php?inhalt=startup
or the original Formosa?

If it is the new 600 model, where did you get it?

Thanks,

Wayne

I had one that I covered in Solite, ended up passing it to a buddy who enlarged the control surfaces and made it a 3D flyer. It hovers well and does insane tight loops and rolls.

Hi Loading,

I have the original as well and haven't flown it yet, its still just a little too cold here.

I'm going to see if I can find more information on the larger one.

Thanks for getting back to me.

Best regards,

Wayne
