heavy sport dandy
Built my second sport dandy heavy. Used monocoat to cover wings and fuse.
Put Dubro hinges on all including battery access door.
Put mister bunny in the cockpit.
Put 2 oz of lead weight in the engine compartment under the motor.
She's HEAVY.
But ... flies great with a 350 motor and 9X7 prop and Thunder Power 2100.
More "scale" in flight. Will still loop and roll with ease and is more steady in flight.

RE: heavy sport dandy
That would make it HEAVY! Not the way I'd suggest, but if you don't mind it flying fast, it would fly well. I'm more of a slope flyer where a little weight can be a friend.... winds etc. Why did you put lead in the front?

RE: heavy sport dandy
Haven't got a scale so haven't weighed it but it's substantially heavier than my stock Sport Dandy.
I needed the 2 oz in front to get the CG right.
In any case, it sure flies nicely. It does seem to hold steady in the wind much better than the lighter one.
I'm looking for a next plane to build. Sort of a next step up. Slightly bigger but still park flyable and a bit faster/more aerobatic.
I'd like to go brushless. Maybe AXI 2808/20 and a 2 lb plane or so.
Any suggestions?

RE: heavy sport dandy
s_tones, I've got a Dandy Sport that could be your plane's twin!
I covered it with Coverite 21st Century Fabric, which is heavy by parkflyer standards.
I came out with the CG 1/8" behind the allowable rear limit, so I had to place some metal weight between bulkheads 1 & 2 under the engine mount. I didn't weigh the weights, but they fill the width of the compartment and sit about 1/2" high in there. It might be a couple of ounces.
Motor, prop and battery package are the same here. 350, 9 x 7, and TP 2s 2100 LiPo pack. How much flight time are you getting with yours?
AUW on mine, weighed on my neighbor's postal scale is 16 1/2 ounces.
So far only one flight on it, I got her trimmed out and flying today. I have no basis for comparison. How does your lighter Dandy Sport fly?
Cheers!!!
