Default SLOW STICK WHERE TO BUY

Have not been able to buy a slow stick. Do they have problems with the plane.

If someone could suggest a similar plane it would be appreciated.

Thank you for your assistance.

If you do not have any radio gear you can buy the slow stick deal, it comes with every thing except the charger, yes even a transmiter for $110-$111.

here is a link to where to get the deal www.gwsexpert.com

Or, did you mean buying everything seperate. They have a radio there for 50 dollars. Is that a true radio, or just a trainer system. It looks like one of those buddy box systems that can't actually work by themselves. Or does the Trainer System mean you can use a trainer cord.

Looks interesting. But, what does this mean "Absolutely everything you need to fly except dry cells for the transmitter." what are dry cells?

I checked both the sites listed in this thread and both are out of stock of the Slowstick.

By the way...I'm going to get the SS 400. This is a bigger motor and for the same price right?

I will be buying the Tiger Moth after the Slowstick too!

Can anyone let me know what flight pack I should buy? I want it for the SS first, then I want to use it for the Tiger Moth. So if I modify the SS, will those modes fit in the Tiger Moth, without making it too heavy? Or will the flight pack for the TM be enough for the SS? I'm confused. So many choices. Just want the right flight pack that will fly both planes without paying for another pack all over again.

Thanks,
Nick

to Nikerz,

I believe that most people prefer the slow stick w/ EPS-300C (geared motor) than w/EDP400 (direct drive). Check post about what version perform better.

There are 3 versions from the Tiger Moth: pico, 3D w/350 , and the big tiger moth w/eps 400C. You will buy the SS and the big
tiger moth and use the same flight pack on both.

to Evolpenguin,

Dry cells are carbon or alkaline type cells, in other words NOT rechargeable cells type.

GWS Recommend:
S Stick 6 cells AA 600 mah
Big Tiger Moth 8 cells 730 mah Nimh

Buy a 8 cells Nimh 730 mah (Sanyo or Kan) cells and extra connector w/wire. Solder the extra wire to 6 cells.
Now you have a pack w/2 connectors: One conected to 8 cells, and the other to 6 cells.
The 8 cells Nimh pack weight less than the 6 cells AA pack!. Use the same pack w/SS and Tiger Moth.

I'm ordering another Slow Stick from www.backyardflying.com and I've been told that GWS USA is backordered with many items.

If you can't find one immediately, you may have to wait.

RE: GWS Flight Pack
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
to nickerz

Pico Tiger Moth or Tiger Moth 400?

Weight is critical w/Pico tiger moth

Best Option:
For SS and Pico TM

Thunder Power 2-cell 830 mAh Li-Poly Pack TP830-2SJ
weight only: 37 grs w/jst connector- You need 2 packs

Castle Creations Pixie-20P ESC w/programmable cutoff (no GWS ESC)

Good Li-poly charger

Pico Tiger Moth: 1 pack
SS: 2 packs wired in parallel. Equivalent to 7.2 volt 1660 mah Max avg discharge 14 C : 11A

Not recommended for beginners

espadet,

It is the Pico Tiger Moth that I was referring to.

Thanks for the info! I think I'm going to go with the Low Cost Option you mentioned below. Thank goodness I read that thread on "tlraskel" a couple weeks back b/c I almost was going to try him but NO WAY now.

I called and left a message with allerc.com Saturday afternoon and I haven't heard back from them. I'm going to try calling again, othewise I am going to my LHS (Hobby Town USA) to pick up the listed items below.

So can the low flight times (you mentioned under your cons) be changed by simply getting a better battery? Like the "8.4V (7-cell) 730mAh NiMH"? Will this battery work for both the SS and the Pico TM?

Thanks again espedet!
