Default gws zero maiden

I tried a rolling take off and it got about 2 ft up and just banked steep left and crashed, I tried again and same thing and broke a aileron. How disappointing. then i got my aerobird and flew that. after awhlie i decided to let my girlfriend try for the first time. I launched it for her then handed her the tx. she did good at first she managed a loop but, she didnt see the building and hit very hard. long story short R.I.P aerobird. I wasnt angry because i gave it to her in pro mode. And i had a brand new one at home that i hadnt taken out of the box. Anyway any suggestions on the zero? it rolls to the left. the cg is very slight behind the spar.

What kind of airspeed did u have when u began to climb?

I found out the hard way that warbirds need airspeed - and lots of it.

Most of the other planes I've flown kind of 'float' in the air - like the SS, AB, my Freedom etc.

The P51 i've got DOESN'T!!!!

If u aproach stall at ANY time, the plane will almost always drop a wing. I think it's called a tip-stall - (still getting used to the lingo).

Try a good strong hand launch and get TONS of airspeed before you climb with most warbirds, unless u r running some serious thrust up front.....

Sounds to me like you've got a thrust issue. If your thrust doesn't overcome your drag your plane will never fly. Even if you have 100 oz of thrust on a 10 oz plane. Tell us your set up.

A 7 cell battery should work on most set ups but be more specific, what kind of cells and are they NIMH? I hope so. Are you using a 10x8 prop?

The GWS Warbirds can be 'touchy' until you get the hang of them (The Zero is the worst until its setup correctly).. For the first few flights set your aileron levels to 'low'. As Nathan said, Speed is your friend! You might want to find a nice grassy hill and try a hand launch next time also.

The 7.2v bats probably had a big hand in your crash. I fly my GWS 109 with 8cell (9.6v) 650mah packs.. They burn up motors faster but are a hel-o-lot of fun.

And when you go brushless you don't have to worry about the brushes wearing out! More flight... less muss, more fun!
