Default Aerobird extreme parts.

Me and a friend of mine each bought an AE today. We were flying them around and my friend had an unexpected "landing". This has damaged the nose of the fuse and the motor has moved forward. I looked at the parts sheet that comes with the kit and it looks as though if you want the fuse you have to buy it complete with radio gear and engine. At $140 this makes for an expensive mishap. Does anyone know if and where you can get just the fuse by itself?

http://www.hobbyzone.com/

Go to all products and type bare fuse in the search window. Put a couple of zip ties through the vent slots just behind the motor - it will keep that from happening

Thanks for that. After looking closer at the damage and reading a few things on this site I think I'll try to repair it before I tell him to get a new fuse. Does anyone know what would be the best glue to use repairing the split in the fuse. I thought about epoxy but I have a feeling it wont stick to the plastic.

just an idea but, you could try using a soldering iron to melt some plastic onto the split on the fuse. like a plastic weld.

Funny you should mention that foreverNight cos I have given up on trying to get a cheap replacement fuse and have decided to repair this one. One of the first things I tried was the soldering iron trick. Gotta say it worked pretty well. I then put epoxy on the split bit on the inside as I could not get the iron in there and I think it will be ok. I have fixed the busted tail with epoxy and packing tape. Next I have to fix the engine mout. I think this is going to be the hardest bit but after reading a few post on this subject I have come up with a repair scheme. I am convinced/determined it will fly again.

It will fly again trust me! These are tough birds. It will fly good as new! BTW you have fix the motor mount using a blow dryer or a candle to shape it back.

I found that the best way to repair a fuseloge split along the seam is to drill a series of holes on each side of the split and stich it back together using wire ties. Glue or melting just diddn't seam to work that well.
