Park Flyer recommendation?
I posted a similar question in the training section, I have about a year experience with a Hobbico Hobbistar 60, (now crashed) and just a few flights under my belt with my Fun 51 (with a buddy box, too chicken!) I just moved near a large park and would love to get some stick time on an electric. I want to use my Airtronics computer radio and I want to definately have ailerons. I was looking at the Decathlon by wattage, (i really like a balsa plane) and also looked at the mad max... but, seems so flimsy and stuff though, I have no experience with foam, and I guess the only ones I've seen are the GWS Beaver that some guys practice with at my club. They just seem kinda cheesy to me, recomendations, anyone? I also like the Crazy 8 by wattage.

Foam planes have some big advantages - mostly they are easy to fix with a little medium CA or 5 minute epoxy - consider the GWS E-Starter - more info on this and other planes at this site

RE: Park Flyer recommendation?
Skeet,
Check out the Accipiter Badius. This is a 3-channel 43" slope glider with 380 motor made in China. Spare parts are cheap and readily available and sells between $40 - $55 on eBAY. This is my first electric plane and I absolutely love it. Check out the "Does anyone fly Accipiter Badius" thread in this forum if you want to find out more.

RE: Park Flyer recommendation?
Mad Max is a very aerobatic plane.
Forgive me but it sounds like you have had some stick time but have been less than fully successful. So a trainer type plane would probably be in order. Since you plane to fly at a park rather than a club field I would suggest something slow and light to start. If you want ailerons there are aileron planes listed in the 4 channel planes, but don't dismiss the three channel planes.
You will need a micro receiver, say under .8 ounces and mini or micro servos.
Hitec HS-55, HS-81
GWS Pico, Naro servos
Don't know the JR or Airtronics equivalents
These planes are based on foam and plastic which is much more durable than
balsa wood models. Easy to build, easy to fix. The Slow stick and the Moth are real slow flyers but they won't take much wind. There are no RTFs listed as you want to use your own radio.
Finally on the more advanced planes, consider your space and the speed of some of these planes. Some are quite fast and not suitable to smaller open park areas, in my opinion.

After you master a starter plane, you can move on to one of these more
aerobatic and 3D flying electrics. Here are a few planes that would be lots
of fun and would represent a real challenge. Most have videos associated with

Many can fly so slowly you can jog next to them and some are so fast you can
lose sight of them very quickly.

RE: Park Flyer recommendation?
Wow, thank you for the exhaustive list. And I don't mind, but I think in a year and a half only one crash ain't bad. The plane had the strangest buzzing sound coming from it before the ailerons completely stopped working. I could've landed it but it had gotten off the field and headed toward the cars and people, and I chose the ground instead. It was a .60 size, and the ground was a better choice than people or cars. But thanks so much for this list, I will look them over carefully.[]

RE: Park Flyer recommendation?
Skeet,
Since you already have some stick time, I would reccommend the sky scooter pro II. It has ailerons, elevator, and throttle. The electronics are compatible with off the shelf stuff, (unlike park zone). They fly good right out of the box but are highly modifyable. As mentioned, foam planes are easily repaired. This plane will loop, roll, fly inverted and is generally big fun to fly. Parts are avaliable and pretty resonably priced. Good luck!!

RE: Park Flyer recommendation?
I got the estarter. Goes together well and seemed to be pretty solid. I nosed dived a few times and just broke a prop. The guy at hobby shop suggested I put a ribbon of carbon fibre from wing section to rudder for additional support. Dont know if it was necessary, but did it anyway.
Plane was balanced quite nicely after completion and took little adjustment. I finally crashed mine in a tree and only way to get the electronics was to try and lasso down. To say the least it was totally destroyed after pulling thru the oak tree.........but Im going to get another estarter
