Air Combat
I was wondering if anyone had any experience with the Sonic Combat Module or other (if there are any) similar gadgets? Is it just a gimmick or does it really add to the experience?

RE: Air Combat
I am not sure what you are talking about. However, I have the Aerobird Challenger that has, as an option, one made for it and the way it works is when you get close to another Aerobird and push the button, it will cause the Bird you are chasing to lose motor (not controls) for a few seconds, simulating a 'shoot down'! Both planes have to be compatible. I don't know if it works between different Parkzone 'Birds.

As long as your parkzone (or hobbyzone) plane has an X-Port you can fight with another one. They work pretty well. I would recommend the ParkZone Stryker with the combat module. Having two or more strykers dogfighting is a blast.

RE: Air Combat
The best combat we have is full contact with GWS Beavers. They are nice ans slow and we just fly into each other. Damage, if any, is very minor and easily repaired with 5m epoxy. Pylon racing with Beavers is cool too.

RE: Air Combat
So the Sonic Combat Module is recomended? It sounds like a brilliant idea to me. I'm very surprised air combat hasn't taken off, so to speak
I'm considering either a Challenger or Striker. I am new to flying but not to RC. I don't think I'd gain much from a 2 channels flyer.
Anybody has vids of air combat?

RE: Air Combat
Hey,
Have a look to this video (pretty big 30 megs)
http://www.ripnburn.rchomepage.com/Videos/combat04.wmv
It's a full contact video of something like 15 slow sticks fighting and hitting each other. Nice stuff..!
Otherwise, I remember seeing some kind of promotional video for the Sonic Combat module on www.draganfly.com in the video section.
Have a look!

RE: Air Combat
The combat modules are a lot of fun! We dogfight with our modified Super Cubs. We just did the first NIGHT combat sortie yesterday. Was tons of fun but got too cold at night!
