GWS ICS 480 ESC...is this correct??
I am about to finish my GWS EStarter and I have to change a couple things on my ESC so I cut off the heatshrink so that I can put the Heat Sink on then put the new heat shrink on. I want to make sure that this is the way it should look when I am done before I make it a permenant thing.
ECS...attach grey sticky thing to electronics part then Heat sink to that..then clear heat wrap.

RE: GWS ICS 480 ESC...is this correct??
THe only thing I noticed is on the video it doesnt look like they use the grey foamy thing at all...I was told a local guy that the heat sink should sit right on the electronics then heatshrink the clear plastic then use the grey foam thing to mount the ESC in the plane.

From what I've heard, the grey foamy thing is some kind of heat conductive material. It surely doesn't look strong enough to mount the ESC.
If you are curious as to how well it conducts heat, I suppose you could put a metal spoon in a boiling cup of water, pull it out and quickly put the grey material on the spoon and touch the back of it (quickly) to see how well it conducts heat.
My guess is that the foam fills gaps in case the electronics are not perfectly flat so the heat sink makes better contact.
If you are really concerned about too much heat, you may want to consider putting the ESC in a place that gets more airflow. I know I overdo things sometimes, but I intend on mounting my ESC outside my Estarter so that I know it is getting cooled properly.
You may want to consider attaching the Heatsink with a zip tie rather than the shrink wrap too so that air has an easier time absorbing the heat from it.
