Brushless Slow Stick questions
Hey all you SS pros...I have a stock SlowStick that I want to install a Himax 2025-4200 with a CastleCreations esc. Any set-up tips?
Props?
Gearing?
Lipos?
Any kind of advice will be greatly appreaciated.
Thanks, Ben

RE: Brushless Slow Stick questions
I have heard of people doing this, but I just can't see the need. The slow stick, and foamy biplanes are about the only planes that actually fly well on 280-300's. Save it for a plane that needs it. I have a Himax 4100 in a Wattage Sopwith. It flys well, and could be considered a trainer. When throttled up, the increased air resistance of a light plane with a large wing area, such as a bipe, or the SS, the plane pitches wildly, and is becomes unstable. I am covinced that the power range in which it flys well, could be achieved by a 280.

RE: Brushless Slow Stick questions
Well, don't know anything about brushless and still has very limited experience with RC planes but yesterday, I saw a great video of a Slow Stick powered by a himax brushless. It was kinda cool. The SS was able to hover like a heli as well as many other nice moves.
If I had such equipment, I would definately try it!

RE: Brushless Slow Stick questions
Hi,
I just fitted one to my GWS gearbox I believe 6.6:1 ratio and 18 Amp Speedcontroller with 3S 1500 Kokam lipoly on a Mountain models tantrum. Initailly a 10 x 4.7 went very well. Unfortunately crashed the model due "pilot error" before I had a chance to experiment with props. About to get another model and will post details when I get a chance. Initial impressions very good. I used a GWS pinion puller to extract pinion from GWS motor. Magic piece of kit. Everyone needs one of these! Bill
