RE: The Badius Owners Club
Jolly, the mAh of your battery shouldn't affect the motor, unless the battery is too small. If an increase in mAh makes the motor run better and/or the ESC get hotter, then your original battery is way too small and/or the ESC may be too small. Using that battery could damage itself. If it is a LiPo it will certianly damage it. You can use a 300,000 mAh (with correct voltage) battery and not hurt the motor or ESC. However, the motor will run for a week on one charge! The only problem with TOO MUCH mAh is added WEIGHT. The motor will ONLY draw what it needs to run. As an example, you can hook up a 12volt brushless motor to a car battery and not burn it out. Hook the same motor to a 24volt car battery (if you had one) and you will burn out the motor!

RE: The Badius Owners Club
Wingnut, thanks to you and others for the good comments on my web site. It is still "in the works"
Jim, the SS flies just fine as it is. A little twist doesn't seem to affect it much.
As for as Cal, I have been out there many times! We manufacture crop dusting equipment, as well as fly. I have delivered several large dry fertilize spreaders out to the great Cal farm land valley! Above and below Sacramento. I LOVE ALL of the desert and mountains of the West! I have traveled all of the different major routes out that way, both northern and southern. Love it, love it, love it!!!! I have thought of living out in the high desert sometime! So has my wife.
Eagel, don't worry. I will be back to bothering you before long!
Blisters, depends on which lake you mean. That area is known as the twin lakes. Bull Shoals and Norfork damn are only about 20 miles apart and both produce hugh lakes. Probably what you are referring to. If not, the dam at Heber Springs produces Heber/Greer's Ferry Lake which is only about 60 miles south of there. All three are great places to camp, boat and swim. I learned to ski at Heber/Greer's Ferry Lake.
Great vacation places, all!

Listen to aceatsbest the mAh rating of the battery is its capacity and makes no difference to the motor, the difference is made by loading the motor with say a bigger prop, this would draw more amps from the battery. Look back on the thread from only approx two days ago there is an explanation on the watts required for a certain performance and how to find out the wattage of your motor. Hope this helps
agcatsbest
Look forward to it.

Terry and GG.
Here's a link to my T-Rex factory demo. Exactly like mine cept I have better servos and esc. It's larger than than the Shogun/Zoom and am assuming the one Teryy sucked us into getting.
Wrong link. Gimme a sec.

RE: The Badius Owners Club
Hey everyone, this is my first post. I flew RC 20 years ago as a kid and my son is now wanting to get into it. We bought an AB as a starter plane a few weeks ago for him and after a few crashes he seems to be getting the hang of it.
We set up the plane with the center of gravity at the suggested 8-7/8" from the nose which did help quite a bit. However, the plane seems to fly with the tail lower then the main wing as though it were dragging something.
Has anyone else experienced this? What did you do to compensate for it?
Thanks for the Help!

Hi Churchboy. It seems that you are still tail heavy. A lot of Badius' are like that but needs to be fixed. Move the battery as far forward as you can. Some of us have added weight to the nose and others remove the foam battery holder and move the battery forward that way. Keep the bats from hitting the motor. Dents in the bats are not good.

LOL. I blamed me. I told her I'd rather trash a cheapie than the T-Rex. I'm pretty sure the one we bought is a Zoom/Shogun. Fortunatly there are great upgrades. I'll know more when it gets here. BTW, the Shogun will fly with a brushed S400. If the motor you got is better than that, you should be ok. If it's an inrunner, you'll have to keep the rpm near max.

RE: The Badius Owners Club
Loubud, You said some people remove the foam and move the battery forward? Our plane has a plastic molded frame that holds the battery and everything else in place. The must have made a design change. I'll try adding more weight to the nose.
I grow up in Ventura out on the East end, I still have family there. I am up in Paso Robles now. The open fields down in Ventura are dwendling. I hope the one near you keeps farming.
Thanks!

Churchboy,
I'm in midtown. Closer to the water. If you ever get back down here, drop a PM or something. Check out the farm.
Do what you need to get the bats forward a bit. Make sure that something holds the battery in place if you remove the plastic frame.

Glassman,
Here's the link for Heliproz.
http://www4.mailordercentral.com/heliproz/default.asp
The tail rotor is shaft driven and uses nylon/plastic gears for the tail rotors. A couple of touches on these and the they get damaged real fast. Metal ones are better but you have experience with heli's. Might want to try stock at first if they come with the nylon gears. There are also belt drive upgrades which is the way to go but this heli will break the bank with all the upgrades they have. Use it as a trainer and upgrade to a better heli.

RE: The Badius Owners Club
Hazy is still waiting for a flyover. He's outback looking up at the private planes waiting for a drop of some sort. Terry is safe for a while. Plus, Terry has a lot of reading to do. What parts to get, etc. Oh. The Futaba 401 gyro is a great one. $125. Lipos, need the TP 3 cell 2100's for a great fit, $70. ESC, over $65. Servos, use good, small and speedy/torguey ones. H56 and H50 for the tail rotor. Just another couple of bucks.
I'm considering putting mine up on ebay. Get some bling for the T-Rex. BTW, all T-Rex's are kits. One reason why they are cheaper than a Shogun.

RE: The Badius Owners Club
You mean my $49 bargain is really gonna cost me $900 [X(][X(]
I may just use it as a real fancy paperweight for a while then, when I can afford it, get parts.
Would be a great conversation piece at work

RE: The Badius Owners Club
The Shogun I bought was RTF plus a few other things and it was about $500 including a worthless tx. Sent it all back. The T-Rex wasn't as cheap as it is now and set me back a little over $500 plus a good tx. This heli stuff will kill ya. That's one reason I take mine out so rarely. Costs me about fifty bucks in parts everytime I try to fly it. The Shogun is easier to fly but not good at 3D stuff till you empty you savings account for the best of the best in upgrades. A guy at my LHS has $1,900 into his an my T-rex will wax it in doing tricks.
