The water break in is both, efficiency: less energy loss due to contact heat, and life time: no pitting means smoother contacts and less abrasion.
Your UAV project, I'll be watching with GREAT interest, because the UAV board you will be using is rudder only, How about testing it on a RC boat?, it can go slow and you would have a large area with no obstructions. You could pre map the way points ( via a row boat ) and refine the Gain and hysteresis settings.
Just a thought

Thanks Ken,I think you are correct about the wing, she aint made for fanging!
I will try the speedglider wing I think,no dihedral/aelirons/very sleek.Looks like a pylon racer setup, but the fuse is slightly smaller, just elevator aelirons and speed control. The body is the same style, but not quite enough room to fit in enough lipo for my needs.I have used it with a brushed motor and nimh batts, but not fast enough for me.
Also I will try to get away from rubber bands somehow, whenever I get a nagging feeling that something is about to give,it normally does[&o]
Gotta learn to prempt that feeling with changes, rather than saying:I thought that might happen...[X(]
This is the plane I am gonna steal the wing off...
[link]http://www.wattsuprc.com.au/product_detail.asp?pid=KX014001A[/link]
Actually, the dihedral wing in the ad looks like mine minus the flouro survey paint...
Will see what happens...
Cheers,
Bleary.

Brent,
There is a long thread at 'the other forum', I have seen your 'handle' there too, so you know where to find it. Have a look at the UAV forums. I have written a Wiki about the RCAP2 product, read it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rcap.
The boat is a VERY good idea! I have a nice lake near me... just don't have a row boat... Oh well, will find something for it.
Btw, Doug asked me to post about it here, he thought you would be interested in it.
Cheers!

RE: The Badius Owners Club
Hi all
did my usual silly mistake ONCE again ! [>:]
changed a tower pro servo for a HSS-55 on the ailerons.. everything waggled (but not necessarily in the right direction!)
eyeballed the surfaces as the TX was on the ground and looking from the front of the wing,
quick wizz of the motor and an Absolute Text book launch then she banks slightly left so its time to compensate.. OPPs she goes into to a bueatiful roll at 20 feet alt [X(]
fingers off stick and cut throttle and she pancakes with wings level into long grass.. []
i have now made this same mistake 3 times [&o]
once on the sky scooter, Stryker and yet again !
News on the Hardware Packs.. all the components have arrived and i will be sending them out either with the Kits awainting dispatch or seperatly at the end of the week,
because i bought in bulk i got them for a very good price so i am including them as standard,
dont Panic StokeFlyer you will be sent a set FOC

Rich and All
as soon as i saw the quality of the component parts and looked at the invoice cost for 100 sets i knew i had to include it as a standard pack,
i have your address in my customer details the harware pack will be winging its way to you soon,
i have put 4 Hawks up for sale whilst i re-work the Block back to standard production condition,
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Radio-Controll...QQcmdZViewItem
Once again i urge everyone who buys a kit to make a paper template of the depron parts as i am selling the Vacuum parts only from the website,
i dont know if i can get a standard complete kit and an additional set of vac forms in the one box but i will work that one out if and when i get the order [8D]
Cheers

GFII,
The water break in does work. You'll hear the difference when it's running in the water. And you'll see the difference in the air, you'll get more out of your packs.
Ray,
Been, there, done, that, got the Tee shirt too. Whoops.
Well I'm still battling the demons over on the AMA sites, it's now back to the same old SH*T. Some of those guys must live for causing trouble.
Well I had a moment of brevity over there. And added this to my last post.
"If you turn someone away, then complain that they don't do things your way, or interfere with your hobby, maybe it's not them that's to blame."
That Able is really showing his true colors, as a rep of the AMA. In one of his last lengthy posts, he mentioned our "TOYS", and maybe we should consider "SERIOUS MODELING".
Well now, aren't they all toys? And who's to say we aren't serious about what we do?
Same old, same old.

Bleary,
As long as your rubber bands are not nicked or dried out, and you use enough of them. you shouldn't have any problems. I have put my gassers into dives and loops that should have folded the wings without any problems from the bands.
Stokeflyer,
as Ray is sending you hardware, I will send you decals, either through Ray or will send them to you direct. Just PM me and let me know.
Ray,
Who is building the display model for Paula? I want to be sure they have decals also. Let me know.
As far as the motor break- in discussion. I have tried it and it does work. Don't the R/C car guys use some kind of a device for truing the Armatures, and cutting the brushes? Called an armature lathe I think.
Was up to the field again last night. 2 nice flights w/ my Big Stick. Snaprolled my Speculator on takeoff, producing a spectacular cartwheel, (wish I had video) . Repairs were minor, New prop, spinner was busted, and a quick shot of CA to the stab, then back in the air for a great wild flight. It is starting to look pretty ugly tho. It is over 6 years old and I stopped coounting at 350 flights. Nothing is straight anymore, and it is a wonder it flies, no less gyrates the way it does, lol.
Hmmm maybe time for new design ' Speculator 2" this one will be suitable for glow or E- Power. I will keep you all posted.
Phil

RE: The Badius Owners Club
Had 2 flights this am. before it got gusty. Video'd the first one. So here's a little afternoon matinee. Had the usual prop in the grass landing. I need a tail hook to snag some grass like an anchor.

Nice vid. Reminds me of bad weather on the boat. A little rock and roll.
Terry,
Me thinketh the black spot is the cameras inability to deal with being pointed at the sun. Other than that, that's a good cam.

Thanks guys. Just tell me when to stop. Can't wait to see DJ's shows [sm=spinnyeyes.gif]. Not much you can do with a 3 channel cub, but I'm trying. I'm eventually going to get a long invert out of it. THe only way to get it that way is to dive and keep the stick pegged to the wall. Then you have to trust the cub to get right again. I'm just scared the chinese wings going to fold on me. When my 400xt arrives I'll probably put a good layer of shipping tape on the wings. After seeing Carls cub fly, I'm sure it's a requirement.

What happened to your boat Lou? I miss my stingray. I've promised her a drive this week. Damn flying bug bit me and all my priority's are screwed up. I just found out that I can build a photo gallery here. I added a few pics of my vette to it if any of you car buffs are interested.

Oh oh oh oh,
I got the 2 cell TP 2100's yesterday. That Crappage Mad Dog will fly sooner or later.
Also, I've been messing around with making decals. I'm still having a bit of trouble with sizing and getting multiple pics on a page but will figure it out soon enough. I'm having problems getting a good print of both certs on a page. The color isn't right so I'll need a bit of time to get this right. Wifey probably knows how. So the mailing out of the certs will be a few days. Plus, I need either tubes or picture envelopes to send them out in and this weekend doesn't look good for shopping around.
Gonna go try and balance the Dog. Very tail heavy.

Stingray,
The boat is in my Gallery. 40 footer that Wifey and I lived on for a while. Think of it as a small condo. 2 bed, 2 bath. And I want it back. Sold it to buy the house.

Capt. Loubud. You must have been under the influence of something to sell her. WHat a boat! I'll give you a weekly dose of loops friend.
