RE: The Badius Owners Club
Guns, not sure what that converts to in english either. You're looking at the metal gear servo right? Well, the 9 gram servo's that I use put oput 1.6, that one puts out 9 on the smae voltage, so around 8 times the torque. THat's one of the better prices I've seen for the Tower Pro metal gear servo. Take into account the shipping charge, total of $21. Also, if you're looking at his other products. THe 25 amp speed controller is the same one that I have that plays "ole susana" when you plug in the batt. It seems to be a good controller so far especially for the $25 I paid for it.
Bryan, try moving the arm on the elevator in one hole. That will give you more movement on your elevator. Might be what you need. Also, did you balance your plane? By that I mean check for the center of gravity? Take a chunk of styrofoam, shove two pencils in it so that they're both at the same hieght & angle. THen put the plane on it, have the pencils pretty close to the sides of the fuselage width when you shove them into the styro. The point where it balances should be close to 8 7/8 inches back from the tip of the prop ( the rubber piece). Much less than that & it will be nose heavy, much more than that will be tail heavy. I usually had mine at around 8 5/8" - 8/3/4"

Terry,
I believe you owe Hazy at least $40.00. A gasser and a truck.[X(]
I'm tellin Lou. Penalty may be higher for admitting to multiple infractions.
Anyhow, Hawk is almost 100% done, just have to open up the intakes and add a couple of rear cooling holes.
Before I forget, Phil, one heck of a job on the decals!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And Ray, another easy and sweet kit.
So what do you think of the pilot? I figured since mine is the Dark Side version, why not the leader himself piloting it.

Blisters,
Reading the programing directions on the esc, they are identical to the Tower Pro versions.
At least the older ones. Let me know how it works out.

RE: The Badius Owners Club
Rich, You read the stuff I was going to relay to you. I vaguely remember back when someone posted a link to his auction and you guys were bidding on those. I emailed the seller and never got a response. I asked him what version he's selling. I kinda figured it wasn't a good one since he didn't reply, so I stayed out of it. I assure you that someone in the cvs hacking forum is working diligently on an easier hack, so sit on it a bit and check in there every so often. Sorry you got something that was not as expected. I was interested too, to have a second one as a back up or to forward it to a fellow BOC member who needed one.
No flying today, I got bamboozled into going/taking the family to Universal Studios Theme Park for the day. They owe me one now. 14 hrs. of torture.
GG The pilot is a horny little fellow. Very original. [sm=thumbup.gif] I'd have never of thought. My kids have lots of old toy figures for me to carve up one day. Buzz Light Year, Barbie, R2D2, Sponge Bob, ect........

RE: The Badius Owners Club
Brad,
Actually the programming instructions they show on the auction aren't what came with it. It's identical to the instructions that came for the 25 amp version, except that it has the numbers for the 70 amp model on it instead. ALthough, now reading through what's on the auction and what's in my hands, it's the same, just better written out on paper. I still have to do some blistering, I mean soldering, on the new one, get the connectors hooked up. They really used some heavy gauge wire on this, 14 on the battery leads. The main capacitor is almost the size of a dime across & an inch long. I'll be really suprised if it burns up on 25 amps like that RCsmart one did. But, ya know, the more I play with the numbers, I think you and brent have it figured out. Low kv motors, ran with High voltage and keep the amps under 20. SPeed contrllers cost less then, and you can have lower end 2 cell packs make up 4 and 6 cell packs. Plus the lower amp discharge has to be easier on the batts than my constant abusive discharge. I usualy plan on at least discharging what the pack is rated for continuous, especially since I forget to take it off full throttle after I do a fast flyby.

RE: The Badius Owners Club
Hey all, I'm still not so sure what I'm looking at with all the wires and everything inside the badius. I understand what everything does, but as far as working on them, and checking if they work I'm still lost. I was wondering if anybody had any pictures or knew of any sites I could check out that would help with this?
Ken, I've been looking at my motor and everything seems to be connected properly, but it's still not running. Once again, everything else is fine...as far as I can tell.

Shikra, Put some voltage directly to the motor terminals and see if it'll spin. Any dc voltage below 9v I believe. If it does, Your problem further back in the other components. If it doesn't then your motor got shook up in the crash and may be toast or might even be repairable. But we know it's replaceable cheap.

Bryan, two 380 motors, one 400 motor, receiver, two folding props (one used, one new), a 2.3 mm prop adapter & a 7x3 apc prop going into the mail for you tomorrow after work. Try the apc prop if you can't get the stock one to work for you on the 400 motor.

RE: The Badius Owners Club
Thanks Guys.
Shikra, This is thee thread for this kind of thing. I know that there are other threads out there that can answer all of your questions but here is where we all try to get you flying, not just answer a question or two. Ken is a great example, as with Stingray and the others of the folks on this thread. I know that sometimes the answers aren't quick enough when you want to get going on solving something but the answer will come. In Ken's case, so will parts to make sure your plane will fly.
The people on this thread make me proud to know them.

RE: The Badius Owners Club
Shikra,
Here are some photos of the SD Badius parts just laid out for viewing. [8D]
The first 2 pics are of the fuse/motor/folding prop.
The next pic is of the Batt/ESC/motor/Rx
Then same as previous pics but includes the Tx and Servos
Next pic is Rx
Next pic is motor
Next pic is ESC
Next 2 pics are servos & connector
Last pic is ESC/Rx/Servo
I'm a little short on time to explain each one, but ask questions if you have any and there are many of us familiar enough to help you out!
Badius Boys Thanks for the backup...you are the greatest!!! [sm=thumbup.gif][sm=thumbup.gif][sm=thumbup.gif]

GG,
Hawk looks good, glad you like the graphics.
Stingray,
I know what you mean about making pilots from toys. Here is one I am going to use. It isfrom a drink bottle I found at one of our apartments.

Shrika,
These guys aren't done with you just yet. Your plane will fly, you'll understand the inards and you'll fly it well. There is that one bump in the road you need to hit and then it all comes together. But in thinking about it, you may not hit that bump at all.
Carl. You're right. Hit the lotto big time and be done with it.

RE: The Badius Owners Club
well not rc related, but it looks like i may have had a bit of luck with the teaching English stuff. originally i contacted a few English schools in the area, but they are all a bit a-nal so no go. recently i've put a few ads up in local shops for private lessons, but nobody has phoned up. so anyway, my wife saw this ad for a company wanting to set up a culture center and looking for teachers (of anything cultural). so we went there yesterday and it turns out they've got this huge building full of empty classrooms and they are desperate for people to teach something. sorted. looks like the Douglas school of English is about to take off. they sort out the ads and i have a free hand to setup courses and do what i like which is perfect. as the Douglas computer consultancy has drawn a big $0 income so far and i am effectively an illiterate crap Japanese speaking immigrant jobs are hard to come by. i still cry in my beer when i think of the money i could be earning in London or Germany hahahah. so this means when i've worn out all the rc stuff i've bought, i can buy some more of course !!!

my lessons are going to be fun with a bit of serious stuff. the Japanese are generally a very a-nal race but the girls are very sexy, so it's not all bad. they have sheep like tendancies and what one does they all do. foreigners are few and stick out a lot if they're not Chinese or Korean. as i'm a complete dickhead i think you could be right hahahaha !! i'm going to get them all into the badius, who knows, maybe a profitable side line !!!

hey Lou, you gave me an idea. i'm hoping to do a course for 6-10 year olds and i think it would be excellent to teach them directions with the blade cx heli. it's easy to fly indoors and i bet the kids would love it !
