Luke

Been there, done that, almost have the scares to prove it.

I had a 700 Watt motor take off on me, I watched it sail in front of my face to then destroy it's self in the wall, I even wrote Hitec about my experience and suggested a mechanical lock on CH#3.

It fell on deaf ears, BUMMER

Later All

Omei,
I can do the roundels, and the Royal Air Force letters, but the other stuff is too small for vinyl, and would be a printed type decal which I don't have capability to do. BTW who has used the graphics I made on their Hawks yet? all feedback appreciated.

well i've been doing some research on the brushless a10 over on rc groups and it seems like the hyperion y22s 3600kv motors are a pretty good fit and i've seen some vids of nice a10's flying, they do about 65mph. i'm also going to get a 20c hyperion 2500 3s to power it, so if anyone wants 2x 3100 3s 12c polyquest packs, used for about 6 months, $35 each, plus shipping. my a10 fus is pretty battered, but the wing is ok. i'm getting a slope glider from tower and i think i'll put another on my wish list. i'm not going to be outdone by this plane !! famous last words. also it takes off from the ground with no landing gear, so i'll try that. my battered one is ready to try again, so i'll give it one more go, but i think it's getting too heavy to fly

Hi, the Hawk pic your showing is mine, the graphics were scaled up from a plastic kit and printed on to decal paper, then some applied inside the plastic before painting and some outside after, the pic makes them look like they stick out for some reason but it must be the light or something as they dont.
I have them saved on my computer, anyone is welcome to them, I think they will email ok.

some pics of the 3 planes i have been building in the last couple of weeks. the bipe is the e-day, a japanese 3d depron plane, the other is the clever boy, which only took 1 1/2 hours to finish and you can see the lancair which needs the nose wheel installing, as i broke the fuse were the steerable mounts go

Ken, cool vid, your getting pretty good with that stryker. Fast little bugger

Well I got the aileron flaps glued on the Stang wing last night with the hinges, Oh man what a difference, they move so easy and smooth now, no drag or binding. I started glueing the golden rod sheath in place, should finnish the wing tonight. I think I'm just going to buy a new motor for it instead of changing it to a new set up.

Ken, Nice flyin! Rock Ranger LOL And the rump ranger Hazy showed up for some crack.

Dougs building 3 planes per day now and flying 4 per day. Your ratio is in deficient by 1. Step up the orders. Nice builds and pics. [sm=thumbup.gif] Well, we could have done without the leg.

Nice Mugi 5string. Can't wait to fly it. .........I mean video you flying it.

Omei, KC's been flying his SS/400xt with a 9x3.8 quite a bit. Is that wrong for me to try. I don't have a watt meter but my neighbor does. Maybe I'll have him run some numbers first. And maiden it with th 8" meanwhile. Oh, quit bouncing your motor around you goof ball.

Hey who's milking this cow

Doug, I like the Clever Boy and Lancair, very nice looking planes. I started to buy the lancair, but I'm still afraid of balsa planes,,, well more of my flying a balsa plane than the plane itself

sray see the chart 9x3.8 SF looks hot / 8x3.8 SF gives a little more speed w less amps
BUT THE GWS 9X5 looks the best for thrust & speed on the RYB motors
this is the one i ran on the POGO & i got 9.9 amps wot on a fresh pack @12.1 v so its good to go.

omeiwon,
They are quite a big size so mail may take a while, if you dont get it let me know and I will resend seperatly.
Yes I looked at the post about the reds, I was lucky enough to see them twice a couple of weeks back at the International Air Tattoo, we camp at a farm near the base and they do the display directly above our heads sometimes about 200 feet above us its a little scary but amazing to see.
My Hawks got a Tower Pro 2409 in her but I've not had a chance to maiden it yet as the wind at my field has been wrong for me, and I dont want this bird to end up in a barn wall like my Mustang
Just hoping to get to maiden it before I go away on hol end of next week.

Ray, if your reading, hope your ok & get well soon!! (I presume Jeeves is hand feeding you grapes and mopping your brow )

I was lucky enought to meet ART SCHOUL & HIS SUPER CHIPMUNK when he was in IDAHO for an air show (got to sit in the cockpit) WAS SUCH A RUSH.
He always had his puppy with him in the air.
The shows he put on were just unbelievable. LOMCEVACK'S OH MY!!!!
he also had a CUB with a TURBO'D LYCOMMING that he would fly up the runway at 10' alt KNIFE EDGED OMG!!!!!!!! [X(][X(]
& THEN he would fly by at 5 mph hanging on the wings 3D for real.

I might try rewinding a different bp-21 to 13 turns & running it on 4 cell with a 7x6 prop & see how that goes. Right now I'm running a "Y" wind with 10 turns and a 5x5 prop pulling 13.65 amps at WOT on 4 cell.

Blisters;

What exactly do you mean by a "Y" wind? I have also heard you talk about a delta wind? I am interested in your experiments (not that I would ever have the skill to duplicate them) and was curiuos...

Thanks

I'll dig out some vid and put it up so you can see how close we get, you cant beat watching something like an F16 pulling out of a vertical dive about 100 feet above you with his afterburner on...lol It gets a little warm and loud but the best thing is watching wifey diving into the bushes for cover...lmao

Just got back from SS maiden. Used 8x3.8 and had 2 12-15 min flights from 1 lipo. Motor, bats and esc where all room temp at landing. It was slightly breezy but flew very nice and graceful. No chicken walk but did some loops and chased down a few sparrows. Very nice combo xt and ss. I think I'll keep her. Then had 2 Nasty flights. Getting better and better at tooling it around. Did some hovering, A few inverts, outside loops ect.... I'm far from being good with it, but each flight is a learning experience. No damage to either plane and came home happy. Also came home with a bonus. Some hoodlums left a mess of beers cans in the chuch parking lot. SO after flying I went over to pick them and toss them in the trash. Suprise........, 8 Coors light tall boys still unopened in the mess. Washed them off and have them chillin for later. Glad Hazy can't read the little druggy bass-turd.

Kudos on the SS maiden, Ray.

Had my own victory celebration today. Took the new Mugi out for her maiden as well as took the Nasty and a second radio for Son to try out the buddy system.

The Mugi is the sweetest flyer I've built yet. Fast and 15 minutes on a 1350mA 3S. Great acceleration from almost hovering to nearly instant vertical climb. Sray, you gotta try this one, man. I'll get ya hooked on Mugiworld. Now I gotta paint it.

Then hooked the two Futaba radios together for the first time. Launched the Nasty and proceeded to teach Son the basics. We didn't do any 3D'ing but he's learning. The good thing is I have a flying buddy and we didn't break anything until the last battery went empty and I knocked off half the elevator on touchdown. No biggie.

I want to teach him to fly deltas but the second radio is a heli 6exh and won't do elevon mix, so until I trade the 6exh for a 6exa, it's standard 3 channel planes.[8D]

5-S;

Congrats on the maiden - nice looking wing.

Did you know that you can get an elevon mixer that plugs into your standard Rx / servos and you don't need the capability on the Tx? They are about $20 if I remember correctly...
