RE: The Badius Owners Club
i lied about going flying this morning. slight hangover doesn't make for good rc skills. incidentally, Hazy might only be small, but rumour has it he has a big 'pecker' !!

Ken
Be careful, Hazy is a crazy little bugger.
Lou has a really hard time controlling him, and he likes to go off on new bees.
When we talk about Hazy's size we talk in a 4th dimension H, W, L, + S.
Never, and I mean NEVER allow him near you girl friend ( we have all seen those videos of what happens when you get too close to those horney bull dogs)
When Speaking with Lou ( and you will ), remember Hazy may be looking over his shoulder SSOO chose your words wisely.

ok Doug,
what is the actual count now? How many &^%$ planes do you have? You're my hero. I mean for real, in the other thread you were buying planes because the yen was more than the $, I love that excuse by the way. I wanna take lessons on how to keep buying planes & flying them while still having a significant other. Genius, pure genius. My strategy is to have Liz try flying, I even bought a plane for her, should be here friday. Think that will work?

hey Ken,
women don't think flying is very sexy, generally. i should buy and be damned if you can get away with it. i'm financially independant of my wife, so she would only complain when i run out of room for my planes and go too far in securing storage space form them !!

RE: The Badius Owners Club
Hi all
I need a little help
I just bought a Sky Hawk and have already found a problem, BTW I have been hanging with Joel and the guys on the Shun Da Cub thread but now I need different kind of help. I think we are getting faulty batteries with these KAN batt packs, I am cycling batt 1 time smooth discharge, second one today bad surging of motor rev up down skipping like it's gonna shut off then suddenly rev way past throttle setting on RX, I am only running 3/4 throttle to dicharge. Question: have you guys found it nessasary to add ventalation for fuse because my batt is getting very hot and even motor seemed a little hot, Is it possible that batt heat is causing this problem.
I know I can't put this bird in the air till I resolve this problem and I know Joel sent his back after bad maiden. Hopefully they are going to stand behind it and give him new plane
More questions later I'm sure so till then
Oh Yeah I am kinda a newby
Thanks for any help you can offer
Ace.. not to indicate flying ability.... YET

You can add landing gear, and glider style will work too.
One note though, if you use glider style, you will only be able to land and at no power ( prop would hit the ground).
Both my brother and I turned the AB into a taildragger http://www.putfile.com/media.php?n=again28 here is a movie showing how it worked.
We were running brushless motors so we really didn't care about the weight. If you are going to use the brushed motor, go with a carbon fiber "U" shaped landing gear with foam tires.
Hope it helps

RE: The Badius Owners Club
Hi induscreed and welcome,
Afineman is probably "slacking off" in the Jacuzzi.
If you want to stick with a brushed motor, I would go with a Speed 400 motor from FMA. If I remember correctly Carlf installed a 480 motor in his Badius. The stock ESC is rated at 20amps so as long as your setup doesn't exceed this, you should be fine.
If you want to go brushless, that's a whole different conversation.
Let us know.

I don't own a Sky Hawk ( RayRay And Pilot Ray do)
But as far as brush less goes, what is the budget?
I'll assume it is low, so this in my suggestion
Motor ( this will be a direct fit ) MotorMax 400"T" ( not XT) http://www.raidentech.com/br400****rsc.html is 1 place you can get it, but search you may find the cheaper else where max current is 12 amps.
Brush less ESC http://www.allerc.com/product_info.php?products_id=1788 this is just an example, you want something that will handle at least 18 amps for that motor.
You can stick with stock batteries or go Lipo
http://www.rc-dymond.com/order_batteries_lipol.htm you can use 2 or 3 cell 1,500 to 2,000 is a wise choice ( remember, a 2 cell lipo needs a different size prop than a 3 cell does).
Well this is a good power set up ( not a wild set up) and is something than can follow you through many models.
Hope it helps

RE: The Badius Owners Club
Thanks Afineman. I am currently using Lipo. I have a 2cell 78.4 v 1300 mah which gives me a 15-20 minute ride depending on wind conditions
