RE: GWS Me109
Send me a PM, and I'll send you the manual for free, I have like 3 of them. The wording in the manual says "The optimum C.G. for this model was 60mm from the leading edge"
I've tried it at 60 and 55mm and they work for me.

Hey Cubano,
I saw your great work on the G6 in the other forum and your new P-51. I've owned/destroyed a P-51 and am on my second Spit. I'm considering trying an ME 109, but I hear they're a bit flimsy and not as responsive as the other GWS Warbirds. What's your take?

RE: GWS Me109
I have built 2 GWS ME-109, the 1st one was not glassed, and I started out with a stock 300 motor setup at that time. The plane was a joy to fly with no apparent tip stalls. Then I upgraded it to a razor 400 brushless motor, and I was very happy with the results. After time the plane took a beating, not by flying but just the regular taking it to the field. The foam got dinged alot, scrathed up, and dented, which led me to purchase another ME-109 slope glider version, and glass it. I put a himax BL motor in it, and I am happy with the results.
My 3rd GWS ME-109 project that I am working on is as gravityrules mentioned, converting the Me-190e to an ME-109 G6.
Anyways here's a video of my 2nd GWS ME-109 E7 trop look. [link=http://home.earthlink.net/~samrc1/ME-109%20768KBPS.WMV]VIDEO[/link]

RE: GWS Me109
Hi guys:
My electric project last year was the GWS ME-109. I had the 350C motor and several props - stock setup. Removed wheels and tailwheel and hand launched. With any combination except the EP-9070 prop, it was on the verge of stalling all the time. With that prop it was flyable but carefully and no stunts close to the ground. It takes little if no wind, and very careful use of the controls. This was with the GWS 8.4V 730 NiMH.
I changed to a Himax 2015 motor with MPI gearbox and brushless ESC in the fall - the power was about the same but the flight times went up quite a bit. But the dang prop keeps falling off, how in the devil do you get a good grip on that thing to get it to stay on the shaft with that clamp setup?. Does anybody make a better adapter that are threaded to use GWS props?
I now have a Kokam 1500 3 cell 11.1V Lipo battery and have yet to try it once winter is done. I am sure it will be a bit difference.

RE: GWS Me109
Furledd, you can get threaded shafts for the MPI gearbox at www.allerc.com. I use those exclusively now. They're about $3 ea. I got a little tired of just about to hand launch and watch the prop fly away without an airplane attached. I switched to the 1500 Kokam 3 cell a while back. HUGE difference in performance.
