Default Battery for E-Starter

I am looking into getting a GWS E-Starter and was wondering if I could use my old 7 cell 8.4V 900mA and 6 cell 7.2V 900mA NiMH batteries in it. (The batteries are the ones used in an aerobird challenger). Just wondering how the flight performance will be as well as overall battery fit in the plane. Thanks!

Those batteries wont fit in the e-starter.

You need AAA batteries that are in a row, like the standard GWS battery packs.

Maybe you could modify the battery compartment when building the plane to fit your battery packs but again your batteries are heavier since they are 2/3A and that could change the COG and lead to trouble.

Thanks for the info. I am new to this whole RC airplane thing so I need all the help I can get. Since I don't know what I am doing really yet, I think I will stick with the recommended batteries instead of trying to add my own. thanks again.

That plane is designed to run on the 7 or 8 cell 730millamp NIMH GWS flat "AA' pack.

You don't always have to put the batteries in the battery bay. You can put them where ever they fit. You could hang them from the bottom of the estarter if you wanted to, where they will fit to balance the plane properly. A bit of Velcro to hold them in place and keep them from sliding forward AND rubber banded down by pieces of bamboo sticks stuck into the side of the Estarter. Not as pretty, but it would work. (don't forget the 'AND' !!!)

I've heard of some putting packs on top of the wing.
