RE: F27 Strker $31 massive upgrade guide!
Great information in this thread! I was just wondering if anyone has run the Aerobird Challenger prop on a stock Stryker with either the 7 or 8 cell 900mah batteries? I've got a couple of those spare props laying around and was curious if it was worth trying out without buying the other battery packs mentioned.
This plane rocks! I got one a couple of weeks ago and am having an absolute blast with it. The one thing that doesn't get mentioned enough (imho) is how stable it is at slow speeds. It glides in so sweet on landings. [8D]
Thanks!

Correct me if I'm wrong but the Stryker B comes with the same prop as the Aerobird Challenger correct??

The first thing I do with a stock Stryker using NiMH batteries at my elevation (5000') is to put on the ABC prop to replace the stock prop. It changes the 7-cell flight from "wallowing around barely above a stall" to "flies with some authority, loops from a shallow dive". Of course, it also reduces the run time from about 9 minutes to around 7 as well. Price I'm willing to pay From what I've read, the stock Stryker prop works pretty well at lower elevations.

1L064, there is no direct link to that pack, you have to go to www.cheapbatterypacks.com and go into the custom pack tab, then pick the # of cells ( 9 ), cell type ( CBP750AA ), shape of the pack ( FIREBIRD ), wire type ( 16 AWG ) and plug ( I use DEANS ). The stock charger will not charge this battery, in my stryker manual it says it's only good for 7 cells, i use the same charger that parkzone has with the P51, it's good for 5-10 cells from .5A - 1.8A, plus with a second charger i can keep all my stock packs charged quickly too. It's still been too windy to get a final pick on prop selection, although it flew very good on the ABC prop my test with a GWS 7x3.5 seemed to be a little bit better, worse part is i find the GWS props a little bit weak, one bad landing with prop hanging down and it's over. I still find my flight times are around 5 min. with 6:10 being my best with the 9 cell pack. All in all i now have the fastest stryker at our shop, it's really making the 3 other people with them quite jealous.

If you read the last page of your stryker manual you will see the parts list, there is a 6-cell and 7-8 cell props, from memory i will say the PKZ1002 is the 7-8cell prop, but just check that page in the manual to be sure.

If you want to lengthen the life of the cheap $8 stock motor, do the "water break-in" to it. It increases the life by a lot.
I'm not trying to steal this idea, so I'll go ahead and say that Glacier (Brad) told me it.

Actually my flight times are longer than stock on the 9 cell, i have decided to stick with the GWS 7x3.5 prop and prop adapter, i find that you do not have to fly full throttle all the time as the 9 cell has much more power than stock, but with my optic 6 timer running on the throttle i get 6:00 of motor running time every flight. I have noticed with the aerobird prop as mentioned in this hop up i only get 5 min of flight time, so try the 7x3.5 prop, it's good for 1 min. more per flight.

Flyingace451, you must not have read through page 1, the prop is from an aerobird, not an aerobird extreme. I will also mention that i have almost 100 flights on this setup and i'm just loving it, the motor is getting a little bit tired now, but i would say performance is still around 80%, oh well motors are only $13.99.

I am running the stock stryker prop at 10,000 feet above sea level with this battery and its ripin... the aero bird prop doesnt seem to get traction in this thin air.

RE: F27 Strker $31 massive upgrade guide!
I have one stock Stryker 27b and one Stryker 27b frame that I am building. On the original 27b with the 480 motor, can I run the other prop provided for the lipo batteries????? will I get anything more out of the plane by doing this or will I get less??? Also I am always looking for more power, can anyone point me in the right direction for more powerful motors that I can still run off of my multiple 7 cell 8.4 volt 1000mah??? I am thinking about ducted????
Any ideas??
Thanks

Make the switch to lipos, you will never look back. So much better. You can charge them and fly 3 days later. They don't loose their charge like ni-mh do. More power and longer flight times, even with a stock motor.
