First Park Flyer, Cessna 182 built my way
Hey all this is my first R/c plane since i was about 12 years old...im currently 19 and in college working and what not but i dont have much income as of right now. So i did some reading up on here and decided to buy the ParkFlyers Cessna 182. I did not like the scheme that came with the aircraft so i have decided to redo it to my own liking. Im going to keep the same motor setup and what not and hopefully get the Litum pack for it. Also I am thinking about purchasing the Parkzone Cub, just to get my basic flying back together. Keep an eye on this Build up as i will be post every step along the way. As for a feild i found a local club that hopefully will help me along in my return to R/c. I've been away way to long.

Welcome back! The PZ Cub should be a terrific choice for you to get your "wings" back. Looking forward to hear of your progress.

Nice design!
I wouldn't get a Lipo pack for it as the 7.4volts would be underpowered and the 11.1 volts would burn out the motor.
This plane seems to fly best for me with 9.6 volt pack. I had wreck on my first flight due to RX glitch and had to replace the motor with a mutiplex 480 motor. (motor exact same weight as stock motor) Flies great with it and loops at 1/2 power. I believe this motor is a bit more efficient than the stock motor.
One cool feature to add to the plane would be a steerable nose gear. Some guys have done this with this plane before.

Before your first flight, be sure to turn the elevator clevis 2 complete turns to add down elevator. Otherwise the plane will climb sharply and fly unstable. This negative pitch elevator problem was also noted in Ezone review:

I went with the Mega 16/15/7 and an APC 7-5e prop, thing is a blast . Bought the optional 1800mah 7.4 lipos get 15 minute flights with those. Also have the Kokam 2000mah 11.1 lipos but with these I fear the wing will rip off at full power. I have a bunch of carbon fiber plates so I am going to make a 12" spar for the center section. Ken

RE: First Park Flyer, Cessna 182 built my way
Hi. Can anyone help me. Im kinda new to this and got myself a cessna 182. I reinforced it with clear packing tape after a first flight wing break. I got the idea from someone on this. Really makes a difference. Ive crashed it a few times now but never did any damage. Anyway, my crashing days are over now and I really enjoy the plane. I have no problems controlling it but sometimes it refuses to turn right for me but when i take it down and check the ailerons, they move fine. Im not sure if its a problem in the rx or me. I use regargable batteries in the tx..would that matter? Or could it be a distance problem. It seems to only happen about 200-300 feet away. Is anyone aware of this problem in the cessna. Hope someone can help me, Thanks

jmir, the pack did not fit it is too big , the stock 1000nimh and optional 1800 lipos fit snugly up in the plastic battery holder. I had to cut some of the plastic away so that it would fit partially up into the fuse. I ended up removing the battery/ main gear holder and then trimming it . Then took the battery and cut the foam to proper size and the used some RTV silicone to glue the battery holder back in.
Also I got some 3/16 carbon plate and made a 12" spar for the main wing as I was a little leary of the wing flex at full power with 11.1 and the mega 16/15/7. You could even go with the hotter wind 5 or 4 and get even more speed. Ken

RE: First Park Flyer, Cessna 182 built my way
Hi. Can anyone help me?
I have the cessna 182 and got a model shop to send me a brushless motor and speed controler. I know I have the right speed controller but Im not sure about the motor. I cant find anywhere where it says this one is compatible with the cessna . Its an art-tech out runner brushless motor. model nr:AT-BW40-05-10. It looks different to the one in the plane now. Its open and wider but seems shorter in length. Im still kind of new to this but I dont want to send it back if it'l work in it.
I'd be really gratefull if someone can shed some light on this or even give me a list of brushless motors i can use on the cessne.
Thanks all
