Anyone know the setup stuff for the GWS Zero?
All,
I recently purchased a GWS Zero from my LHS. I built it w/ Hitec HS-81 servos and have some Q's on the setup stuff, like the control throws, etc. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

just a few steps behind ya'
I still have mine in the box. My neighbor has the mustang built, I'll point him to this post to see if there's any similar characteristics.
Also, he was disappointed with the performance with the eps 300. I've been doing research to upgrade the motor.

Throw rates
Just go with mild throws!!!
Don't overdue it on the first flights. I would do about 1/4" max on the ailerons, 3/16" would be better.
Go full throw on the rudder.
Go about 1/4-3/8" on the elevator. The elevator is extremely sensitive on this small bird.
Use the stock prop for best performance, you will need plenty of speed to keep it in the air!
Build it as light as you can and you will be much happier.
I just built and flew the Mustang. My complaint is it needs a bigger battery and bigger motor..
GOOD LUCK!

Check out the thread "The Zero good bad great" by Spudnik on pg. 2 for a few more tips...Crash and Burn has it right w/the throws, and make sure you balance it foreward of the recommended point. (put the c.g. @ around 45mm back from the L.E.) Happy Landings...

This plane hates wieght. The 81's are really heavy for this plane. I put the 9 gram servos in mine with the 18 gram on the retracts. 8 cell nimh. The plane flys great with this setup. I got the servos from ALLeRC or you can get them on ebay. Either way they are CHEAP and work great. DONT fly this tailheavy or you will spin it in.

Jake,
I think the most important thing to know when building/flying it is that there's a serious error in the manual where it gives the CG location. It should say 45-50mm. If you position the batteries to give the CG in the manual your first flight will probably be VERY wild (and very short!).
