Landing gear advice...
hi guys,
I have a parkzone j3 cub and i normally do ROGs. I was wondering if anybody knew of a way that i could make a tailwheel so that i could have control of the direction on the ground. I have an idea of how to do it but i am not 100% sure. below are a few pics of the tail area.

deb,
Here you go. Dubro steerable tail gear, part # 375, Dubro 3/4" tail wheel part # 75TW.
Use a second control rod off the rudder servo, to operate it. I just epoxied the tail gear right to the fuselage, after using 2 small screws to attach it. Scuff the covering to give the epoxy something to grab onto. Mine's been on there over a year, no failures.

Hey GG, noticed in your pic that the tail surfaces were off your fuse. I bought a new fuse, but didn't need new tail surfaces, so took them off the old J-3. They were glued on so tight, I had to cut away the old fuse to get them off. I noticed no pre cut slits in the new fuse, where the "shark fins" at the bottom of the plastic horizontal stab mount would go into. Do you recommend I cut thin slits when re-mounting it, or just pushing it in through the seam where the two fuse halves come together?
Thanks!
scott

Scott,
PZ changed the design on the tail a while back to the fin set up, originally it had 5 pins to locate it. Sounds like you got an old version fuselage. Exactly what I ran into. I just cut out for the fins and dry fitted it to be sure location was correct.

Thanks GG. Before slicing it, I tried dry fitting it by squeezing the tabs through the seam in the fuse, and it worked well without tearing anything or binding, so that's how I glued it on.
Thanks for the response in the Slo-v thread. What do you think about me replacing one of the motor capacitor on the J-3 with different than stock (it's about 1/4 the diameter of the original and says "4uf" instead of "3uf"? I did a static test, running up the motor to 3/4 throttle and confirmed smooth rudder travel. I assume this means there isn't excessive radio interference, but I'm wondering if I might have a problem when the tx-rx range increases once in flight.
thks, scott
