Battery for GWS Tiger Moth 400
Please would someone let me know much space there is for the battery in this model, as in Xcm x Ycm x Zcm ? Would a 3S 1800mAh LiPo (4.5oz) be ok assuming that the ESC can deal with the correct cut off voltage ?
Thanks
Thanks

Net, sure it will fit. I run a 1800, 2100, 2200, and a 2500 in mine. Although, I sanded out a bit for the 2200's because they are taller than the others. Just remember to get your cog good and your fine.

I never even tried the stock motor. I think it comes with a 10x4.7? According to Greg Covney's build thread they use a 3s lipo with the stock setup. Your all ok there.
I put a BP-21 outrunner in it to begin with and then jumped to a Park 450.
I wouldn't change it for nothing now. It's fully glassed, painted, HS-55 servos, JR 610UL RX, CC Pheniox ESC, with a 10x6 APC SF prop and gets about 30 oz of thrust and around 60 mph.
I can go vertical until I can't see it.
Try out your stock for a while and see how it does, it can't be to bad as I have seen the stock fly, but I like to have that extra "uummpp" to pull out if something goes bad.

I would imagine there is no problem with that batt pack. I'm using the 3s 1500mAh kokam with plenty of room to spare. Just remember to trial fit it in. Mine is a bit tight so height wise so I needed to sand a bit out of the cockpit for easy insertion/removal.
My TM used the stock motor and it flew well, scale like, easy, not fast, or 3d aerobatic. I think the stock motor is good for stooging around. I havejust put in a ultrafly 'd' series brushless and am really keen to see what it will do now.

Forgot to mention I was using the stock GWS prop, ICS400 ESC with the 1500mAh Kokam with no problems. I found I cruised around on 1/2 to 3/4 throttle, with only occasional full throttle for climbing.
Its a nice plane, now with the brushless upgrade I think its gonna be nasty!

Would this fit onto the stick and inside the cowel ?

Netdudeuk, Thats the Tower version, but it is the same motor IMHO.
It flies great with this and a few other models I have/or had them on.
21 oz of thrust on a 3s lipo with a 8x4 sf prop, and a 9x6 sf with throttle management is awesome for this $18 motor.
The stick mount that comes with it will fit directly to the TM stick, but if I remember correctly I had to trim the stick back about 1/2 inch because this is an outrunner and the whole bell rotates and I wanted to make sure there was nothing touching the cowl.
Very nice cheap brushless motor, and preforms nice on a 15-22 oz model.
Even have one of these on a Parkzone F-27 Stryker and it scoots along nice.

Great prices on that motor and a 30a ESC combo (in the USA) at http://www.aero-nuts.com/product_inf...roducts_id=147 if you're interested. Just found them by doing a quick Google search....their LiPo's look reasonable too.

There are several motor / esc combos. Which is the most suitable for this application ?
They have a 10C 11.1v LiPo at a bargain price. Is this enough for that motor and ESC combo ?
