Default F27/F27B Stryker

I'm looking to get a stryker as plane #2 here in June, but my local shops only have the 27, not the 27B. Ordering from horizon directly has shipping + an up charge for an oversized box. Are the differences worth the increased cost w/ the shipping?

Hello,

I guess it depends on what the value you see the upgrades of the "B".....

LiPO compatibility
better roll rate
hinged elevons

Certainly the 27 flies good enough for most, but if you are thinking of later making the change to a LiPO, go with the B...

You need to check which version the shops have on the Stryker.
There are actually 3 variants of the Stryker fuselage. #1 had a 3 piece wing, the original.
#2 was a much better one piece affair, sans the hinge cut outs.
#3 is the B version.
If your LHS has the original #1 version run, do not walk to your computer and order the B.
If it has the #2 version, it's much better then the #1, but may not have the upgraded electronics( lipo friendly)

why not ask one of your local shops to order one of the B version for you? when i do that i usually end up waiting about week and a half at most, but i don't pay shipping charges, though.

I am 90% sure that the local shops would pass shipping on to me. I don't see how/why they would order a 27b for me and eat the shipping when that have 3+ regular 27's on the shelf, or am I wrong?

the local shop here places their orders each monday and shipments come every thursday. he just ads it to his monday order and it arrives on the same truck as the rest of his stuff.

it's never cost me more than it would if the product was already sitting on the shelf the first time i went in looking for it.

If that doesn't work out for you, try eBay. I just did a quick search and found a few 'Buy-It-Now's with free shipping.

I'll check out ebay - found some w/ free shipping and an extra battery at that. Bad thing about ebay is some of those ebay only hobby shops ship so friggin' slow.

I saw them listed. . . that is a good deal - good to hear someone that has used them - I might go this route. I've had hit and miss success w/ decent service off of ebay shops, so this is good news. Thanks

BTW Glacier Girl is a guy...he's named after the plane not because he's a gal.

The biggest mod of the B version is the ability to use lipo. If you plan on using a lipo, you'll need a B version or you can go standard electronics.

The f27 b stryker still isn't in the Australian hobby shops! Im just wondering what the hold up is with the f27 being shipped to Aussie hobbyshops.
