Need some INFO, non AMA public fields
Hey All
I have read many times about non AMA public electric flying fields, around the country.
I would like to contact those municipalities in charge of those fields so I can use their field as a model in my example.
My town has an X Superfund site, and even though I fly from a local school, this place would be better.
As the years go by, the (flying) attendance at this school ( because of it's perfect location) has increased 3X just in the last year.
I would like to put a proposal together for my town, I want to ask my town for the use of this SF site as an electric only non AMA flying field. I already have a lot of info BUT I really need your help in identifying the towns/cities that sanction non AMA electric flying sites.
So! town name/ contact name(if possible) and any other info you can give about the field would be a GREAT help.
I want to thank ALL in advance for their help
Brent

Hollywood,
I just checked the sites listed for PA. Of the 23 listed sites 22 require AMA, #23 is a dead link. [:@]

Brent,
I'm not sure I understand your reluctance to work with AMA. They have just created the new parkflyer status. AMA also has an agreement with SuperFund that establishes a working relationship between the two organizations.
You might find it easier to get a group together, charter a club with all the AMA benefits, and approach Superfund with the idea for an electric only AMA field.
No matter where you go, unless you deal with a private party who doesn't care, you're going to have to get through some legal department's questions about liability. Standing there by yourself you can get to feeling real lonely real quick.
No too far from where I live in Central Texas there's an electric only field. It's AMA chartered, gliders and parkflyers only. They're in a county park and enjoy a great facility.
You might have luck approaching SuperFund with a non-AMA facility situation, but it looks like a long shot.
Good luck,
BobbyG
